I'm tired of hearing some people, even from FR say that we need to "rise above the fray"!

“I just want to remind people that little exchange of ideas occur that way, and nobody yields in an argument to verbal duress.”

If this is the case then NO ONE no one should listen to or vote for the Democrats.

In the late ‘70’s I became aware of the Liberal tendency to call ANYONE who merely disagreed with them- on ANY issue great or small- “evil”, “stupid”, “Fascist”. “A Nazi” etc.

Personal anger is cancer of the soul. Righteous anger is allegiance to God. Reagen was (righteously) angry a lot. It motivated him to go into politics in the first place. It informed every thing he said and did running for and as President of the United States.

McCain was trying to ACT civilized in the last election, emphasis on ‘act’. His motivation was not thoughtful, rather it was likely fear of or an attempt to manipulate the MSM. Reagan WAS civilized, in the manner of Washington et al. “Acting” involves superficialities. “Being” goes to the soul.

Not just entitlements, AGENCIES that make rules that have the force of law, which destroy business, energy, free enterprise, manufacturing; also all these CZARS who have staffs, who make up yet more regulations that nobody voted for, strangling the country.

There was this disgusting pig leftist who sat amongst my friends while we were discussing a story about a local woman who tortured and murdered her 3 year old daughter.

The rodent’s response:

“All this anger towards this woman when Christ said to turn the other cheek. Amazing how it takes an atheist like me to point out the scripture to you. This woman needs therapy not prison.”

We told it off and IT felt more self-righteous than ever.

No “crude and abusive language” is in that post. You need to apologize to that poster.

I was NOT accusing the poster of anything! I was reminding him that engaging in Christian discourse is to use the best language possible. Many claim to be good Christians, and then verbally abuse their opponents. I was merely adding point of thought to the list of things to do when "pshing back".

Everyone wants to take issue with others so badly that they manufacture causes.

Washinghton was first and most importantly a field General at war with a superior enemy.

So, I agree with the original poster just as long as he intends to "push back" with skillful use of language.

Unfortunately, we are being backed into a corner of speech control. Their language use in not "skillful." We lost the language war by complacently allowing "hate speech" and "hate crimes" into our judicial system. Recapturing unrestricted use of language is ESSENTIAL for maintaining our freedom.

So you were intentionally rude and lied about another poster simply to prove the point that others are rude? What hypocrisy.

See my post #64.

This is what I am talking about! You are perfectly willing to manufacture ill will out of nothing except mistaken intent. What ever happened to the benefit ouf the doubt. We eat our own kind. How can we converse politely with those with whom we have issues?

I thought about reporting your post as a blatant lie....but decided against it.

The light needs to shine upon such untruths. You did what you did and now deny it. I LOVE the fact that everyone can see your lies, out in the open.

You can’t explain your way out of your post #7. You accused a fellow FReeper with lies. Shame on you.

Let me add, when I heard Hannity ask a Tea Party member if we are racists I immediately turned him off. I tired of the defending baseless claims. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!

Calling someone a serpent is a Biblical metaphore.

Calling someone a snake is a deliberate insult. It is not a pristine and impersonal Biblical metaphor.

Yes, George Washington would agree.

There’s only one high road, and it’s not the road of man.

When we go around thinking ours is the high road, we will only fail.

Fighting for truth can be done God’s way. But self-righteousness puts us on the other side, sometimes without even knowing it.

That was my first thought, always be above the fray so you have the best vantage point.

I’m very conservative but I don’t run around pushing my beliefs on people because it can’t be done. I’ve watched vocal right-wingers and left-wingers leave their audiences cold. I bide my time and many, many times I have just the right opportunity to state the truth when people are receptive.

It is the same way with religion. People HATE people running around asking “Are you saved?”. My SIL has so many people backed into a corner about religion that they just don’t want to admit that they even are Christian.

I think we lost this war because we were too apathetic to push back in any manner. We awoke to find ourselves right in the middle of a very peculiar and spectacular difference place. If we would have insisted that our representatives actually represented us, we would not be in the predicument we all face.

It was not the lack of harshness of language, it was the total lack of expressing any dissent that got us here.

Jesus wasn’t being abusive when he called the Pharisees serpents, whitewashed sepulchers and den of vipers? He was being civil when He fashioned a whip and drove the money lenders from His Father’s house?!

Exactly!!

You're responsible for any "ill-will" that was created on this thread. Imho, your behaviour is unacceptable, rude, and hypocritical. You owe everyone on this thread an apology, beginning with the poster whom you first insulted.

"We eat our own kind"? Who is "we", because the only person here that I see intentionally causing dissension is you.

Yea, she might as well say what’s she’s going to say. They are going to tear her up no matter what she does. Or what conservatives do for that matter.

This is the easiest of all traps in which to fall.

There is an idea I have ... ... conservatives are largely Christian, we rate high on obeying the laws of America. Now progressives, liberals, gangs, drug users, etc., have no such compunction. If and when one decides to ignore the laws, and do as one desires, it is chaos. Yet, that is exactly what we have in America, more that do not obey, respect, or observe the laws unless it happens to concur with their individual wishes.

It is like conservatives hand cuff their self and then wonder why or how it is they are doing the ‘right’ thing and losing freedoms and monies, and rights. Staying in the game expecting to win when the other side plays dirty, cheats, does whatever it takes to WIN.

This is how it has been for some number of years and getting more blatantly obvious all the time. Once we lose the middle undecided, we may not recover in America. SAD and True!

I agree. We need to go on the offensive. Leftist social and fiscal policy have been disasters. Sexual liberalism has left millions of children in broken homes many who are destined for prison before they even reach adulthood. Liberalism has destroyed our education system and caused the costs to sky rocket. Attack them with studies, attack them with science. A lot of why the left dominates is they release an endless stream of politically motivated liberal science which is then parroted by the media ad nauseum. We need to have them responding to us and we need to make better arguments and not be afraid. We have the truth on our side. It is why even though the left dominates academia, media, and pop culture we still are the largest political group. That didn’t happen by being quiet and playing nice it came from challenging liberal dogma. The only reason self identified conservatives aren’t an even bigger group is because we still far too often play by the rules of the left. We start out from their premises and only try to moderate them rather than expose them as baseless crap.

Agreed.

Complacency has been our biggest enemy.
