The recent Arizona tragedy has, of course, brought the entire issue of firearms control to the front of our national consciousness, along with the usual assortment of bloviators, pundits and podium thumpers. At the risk of being considered one of them, I would like to offer several alternatives to address the problem.
n Repeal the Second Amendment. At the time of its writing and through the early 1900s, The United States was a nation of largely isolated communities that depended on their own initiative for mutual security.
That time is clearly passed...

I don’t think he was denigrating small caliber firearms. Just pointing out that if you’re in a close quarters encounter with one or more thugs (i.e. home defense) a short barrelled shotgun is the ultimate weapon for many reasons. For example, a Mossberg 930SPX with 18 inch barrel loaded with 2 3/4 No. 1 buck shot could be handled easily and accurately by your wife, GA girl or anyone. I guarantee you one shot from this weapon versus the 22 mag would make a world of difference when your life in on the line. You don’t have to be an expert marksman with this weapon to put a lot of holes in someone in an instant.
The Bill of Rights, the amendments, merely RECOGNIZE God given rights, there’s nothing to ‘’repeal’’. If the shooter in Ariz. had been a muzzie on a ‘’jihad’’ these same nuts would be busy minimizing it and the MSM would excusing it any way they could think of.
Be Ever Vigilant!
I wonder if the Colonel has suggested that Al Qaeda agree to disarm, for the good of all.
Crossing my fingers that it won't be a POS.
They may or may not have, but it's beside the point. The way to look at it that they recognized the citizen's right to be as well armed as the state. This guy's proposals all assume the state is on top and can not only be better armed but dictate to the citizen that they're not as "privileged". Braaaaap! Thanks for playing, simpleton. Now go away.
“22 mag weapons kill people every day of the week.”
What about multiple opponents? While you are putting the necessary 5 or 6 rounds into bad guy #1, bad guy #2 has had time to kill you. I can put one round each into both perps in the blink of an eye with my Kimber .45.
I have looked at the KSG and have a problem with knowing when you are out of rounds in tube #1 and need to switch to tube #2. In addition, I would prefer a semi-auto.
I envisioned a mechanism where one tube is primary and the other is backup/manual select. IOW there is a selector and you can use it that way manually like say with different loads in the two tubes, but if you put it on the primary tube, it will automatically switch over to the second tube when the first one empties. Does their selector not work that way?
When seconds count, Law Enforcement is minutes away.
I don’t ever see the possibility of a retired Marine Colonel ever writing a piece of crap like this.

I’ve got back up. A Rambo fiancee’ with a Springfield Armory .40 XDM with match grade trigger and barrel. They keep calling him to be an instructor at Front Sight. Some girls have all the luck.

That reminds me of the scene in Dirty Harry:
"Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself.
I gather the colonel is illustrating the absurdity of Liberal solutions, and makes the conclusion that the best method to reduce the illicit use of ‘weapons’ is through harsher punishment.

His message is not all the clear. He does provide reasons why Liberal solutions won’t work.
