I hope that the Football Gods are not yet done with Darth Hoodie.

I wish that I could have caught the Jets vs. Pats game in its entirety.

But now the Jets go to Pittsburgh. If the Steelers' Defense once again channels the old Steel Curtain (viz the 3rd Quarter last week), the Jets will lose.

But there is no denying that the Jets punked the Dolts and the Patsies in their own back yards. But since I think that the Steelers took Baltimore seriously, they aren't likely to take the Jets lightly.

The Jets will lose next week.

My thoughts as well. The clock strikes midnight for Cinderella.

BB did not call for the fake punt. That was a stupid call by the player. Secondly, running the ball was what the Jets were allowing. If they had scored then they are down by 4 with 5 minutes left. Also, Head Coaches don’t drop passes, throw INTs or fail to tackle a player and allow a huge catch and run.

The Jets executed their game plan better than the Pats. Their coaching staff did a better job then the Pats.

Last year the Pats got stomped by the Ravens and they wouldn’t have had any film on them even in the cheating days because it wasn’t a rematch.

Honestly I think it all boils down to game plan and personnel. We’ve known for a while the Pats defense was so-so, they’ve replaced aging awesome players with younger not awesome players. Add to that the fact that Brady doesn’t scramble anymore since his knee injury, which is something the Jets defense counted on, none of their sacks came quickly, they relied on him standing there until either somebody got open or he got sacked, and hen they didn’t let anybody get open. There’s one play in the 3rd quarter where Brady was basically standing there for a solid 10 seconds while the 3 rushers eventually closed in on him. Pre-knee injury Brady never would have done that, he wasn’t a “running” QB in the general sense, but he wasn’t a sitting duck either.

A coworker of mine is a huge Boston-grown unapologetic Boston sports fanatic. To him, there is no better nor will there ever be any better team then the Patriots, the Red Sawx, etc... I told him to enjoy the championships because one day he will wake up and his teams will suck again. It happens. He told me there was no way, they would never suck again because they have finally “figured out how to win”. We are witnessing the greatest dynasties in all of pro sports, dontchaknow! I tried to tell him that sports, like most things in life, are cyclical. You win some and you lose some, your team is no different than anybody else’s.... well, maybe except Cleveland. ;-)

But I got a chuckle out of his balls to the walls fanaticism. Especially when he came in late on Monday morning and told me that he was no longer going to pick up the NFL Ticket because if his team doesn’t care as much as he does, he’s no longer going to spend the $180/season to make sure he can watch his Patriots every Sunday.

It was somewhat sad to watch a 40 year old guy in his Tom Brady jersey quietly clearing his cubicle of all the sports memorabilia. The Tom Brady bobblehead, the Ted Williams statue that christened the top of his monitor, the plastic Pats football, the miniature replica Red Sox bat. The brand new Patriots Calendar. The poor SOB is a shell of his former self, LOL! Might be having to talk him off the ledge soon...

McCourty is a pro-bowl caliber player as a rookie. Mayo is an elite player and Patrick Chung is quite good too. Losing Bodden and Warren in the preseason really hurt them and the losses of Wright, Brace and Pryor along the d-line at the end of the season was tough for them to overcome. Pryor and Brace seem to be developing into quality players.

I think where BB should be held accountable is the failure to fix the damned pass rush.

They’ve got some good guys, but nobody has really stepped up on their defense to replace Seymour or Bruschi. Injuries haven’t helped, but they earned their 25th place ranking in regular season defense.

I think BB should hire back some of his old coaches. I’m not sure he’s got anybody left to bounce ideas off of, and since most of the guys that left him have failed as head coaches they’re generally available.

They are very weak at OLB which means bad pass rush. Think Matthews would have looked good in a Pats uniform???

Pittsburgh has without question been the most successful team in the NFL over the last 45 years. WHY?? Because the first principle has never changed—HIT THE OTHER GUY IN THE MOUTH!!!

Commish Goodell is looking to fundamentally transform the NFL into a kinder, gentler game. Some fans have voiced their objection by signing an online petition to have Goodell removed.

I'm a traditionalist and want the game to remain the way it always has been: a tough, hard-nosed competition.
