Well, I also have a problem in some cases with urine tests on the job.
However if we are going to give urine tests to people who work, we should also give urine tests to people who live off the welfare of those who work.

Florida’s new Governor, Rick Scott has proposed this. But the cost of the test combined with the political and social environment says that we would then need to refer them to treatment would be cost prohibitive. I love the idea in theory, but in reality it will never fly.
Better idea. Drug test tax payers and if you fail, you don’t get to pay taxes.

In my old days I would have been appalled at such a suggestion. Then................. I started working in the school district I’m in now & my eyes opened wide to how people completely live lives on the gov’t dole. It’s unbelievable..........more unbelievable at how young it starts & how it is expected.
What I don’t believe is how in my state w/ a Republican Gov.; it is not stopped. Seriously.......why won’t conservative governors pull the financial rug out & stop giving enormous sums of money to children having children?????????????? We live in Mississippi............where a whole culture of people have learned to scam the system and get it all for nothing. It makes my brother ( his liberal eyes are completely opened now too!) & I are livid that our 74 year old mother works to make ends meet & 20 year olds are hanging out doing nada.

But I have a problem with allowing people to collect welfare even if they do pass a urine test. Why should they be allowed to sit at home watching Wheel of Fortune and playing Pac-Man on the computer all day while I have to get up at 5AM every morning to start my 14-hour workday?
I say that we need to do away with welfare entirely. When people fall upon hard times, let them go to their family and friends for assistance. Even the most benevolent among us will quickly change our tune when deadbeat friends and relatives show up looking for a handout.
Before there was welfare in America, did people starve to death? No, they ended up finding a way to make ends meet all by themselves.
Welfare recipients, food stamps, public housing, WIC. Oh yeah, Government workers too
