So, when the majority of the population elected Obama, are you saying that we wanted socialism, chose socialism and got socialism so we should be happy?
After all, we as a nation, chose to do this.

"So, when the majority of the population elected Obama, are you saying that we wanted socialism, chose socialism and got socialism so we should be happy?" I take it that you are a defender of the Southern Cause, and have a good sense of humor? ;-)
My argument here includes the following:
- The South not only seceded, but also provoked the war.
- They did this because they knew that unilateral, unapproved secession was not Constitutional, and only a victorious Second War of Independence could make the Confederacy legitimate in the eyes of the world.
- The war started not as a War of Northern Aggression against the South, but rather as a War of Southern Aggression against the Union, with the South sending or supporting its forces in every Union state and territory surrounding the Confederacy.
- In short, the South needed and wanted war, and this is especially true of those states which seceded after the South's Declaration of War on the United States.
As for today's Obama voters -- didn't you know, they all voted for "hope and change" and now they just hope the change in their pockets will be enough to live on... ;-)
Of course, if you wish to argue that 90% of Southerners had no idea what they were getting into in 1861, then you'd be perfectly correct.
In the same way, 90% of Germans never realized until way, way too late where Hitler was leading them.
Declaring war is just H*ll, especially war against the United States.
