Just received text from my BFF in Omaha that the principal of Millard South High School has been shot in the back of the head. The shooter apparently killed himself. All Millard schools were on lockdown.
Her sons are in the Millard district. Haven't seen this posted or on any national news.
It was on Fox an hour ago. By then they said they “had” the suspect.
More info here.
Navy Vet posted on FR right after it happened. Now sounds (per omaha.com) like it was a student that did the shooting. Per some FB info my daugther found, sounds like he was suspended from school this morning (first day back after holiday). Then came back to shoot the principal and vice principal. Then shot himself later. The shooter was said to have been the son of Omaha police detective.
It is very sad.
Sounds like they have him and he’s not going anywhere. Since Columbine, every kid who wakes up with a bad hair day thinks this is the solution. Crazy.
Hope the principal recovers.
I was petrified when my BFF texted me! Was so worried about her boys. I love them dearly.
How is this going to be spun I wonder?
Son of a detective.
Is this like the third shooting today? Not that I don’t think there are multiple shootings every day.

Any pictures of “perp” and victim.
BFF said the kids were put under Code Red and all moved into corner of room. The boys are ok but were a little unnerved. Lots of loud noises of doors being shut/locked. Both boys are in the same middle school that feeds Millard North.
BFF said she and hubby know the Vice Principal of Millard South and she’s a really neat lady. They’re hoping she’ll be ok.
Sad
My wife has a theory about things like this:
Everyone is so concerned about little johnny's self esteem that punishment for minor infractions are dealt with that in mind. Keeping their precious self esteem in tact is more important than any punishment.
Consequently, when punishment IS handed down, they have no idea how to handle it and this is their first reaction.
I am not saying this is true across the board, but I think it at least deserves some thought. I mean, how are kids supposed to grow if they're never allowed to fail?
Millard..can remember when it was annexed by Obama. Wonder if anyone remembers there was a time capsule buried at the Millard High school in 1967. It is near the flag pole. Forgot when it was supposed to be opened.
What a tragedy!
Who did this and why?
I find it difficult to rationalize the thinking of someone who kills someone, thinking it would make the world better for them, and then shoots themselves. It must be downright evil that provokes it...or drugs.
However, will we now see calls from politicians to get the guns out of the hands of police officers? Like they did in the UK? Apparently, no one is capable of keeping their firearms safe if the police can't even do it. </sarcasm>
Shooter was the son of an Omaha police detective, both victims are in bad shape:
Wow, rin, so glad they are OK!
Is this woman the only VP there? So many schools seem to have multiple VPs - especially if a high school, though.
