CBS-owned WPHT 1210 AM Thursday announced a new lineup that will go into effect in January. Longtime morning drive-time guy Michael Smerconish is giving up the morning shift to focus on his nationally syndicated afternoon show. He’ll be replaced by Chris Stigall, who is currently on in Kansas City.
The station also is dropping national figures Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity in favor of local content, with Smerconish replacing Hannity in a late afternoon and Beck being bumped in the morning by longtime WPHT host Dom Giordano.

Stigall’s hiring is the result of Michael Smerconish’s decision to discontinue his morning program so he can focus on his nationally syndicated midday program. Smerconish will continue to be heard on WPHT weekdays from 3-7 p.m. with the first hour of the show dedicated exclusively to the Philadelphia audience. Smerconish will debut in his new time period on Monday, Jan.17, 2011.
