Lavender Fields
Photograph by Gerd Ludwig
Purple tints land and sky as night falls over lavender fields at Tasmania's famed Bridestowe Estate. The plantation is one of the largest lavender farms in the world.

Where would someone hang wallpaper like that?

A small token of my appreciation

Late September in Michigan's Upper Peninsula can be a time of gray mists and steady rain. The deciduous treesmaple, aspen, crab apple, birchhave begun to turn; but in a wet year their colors are more muted: umber, ocher, russet, and mustard."

If I could afford Blackwaters services Id go over to Detroit for some photos of the ruins. It's funny. I was back there end of July (HS reunion) and visited a couple houses I'd live in in the suburbs in a short time, but those areas were clearly prosperous. Didn't go into Detroit proper -- and maybe glad I didn't.
But who knows? This was my wife's first-ever visit to Michigan and she fell in love with the people (she's a world-traveler, grown up mostly overseas), though she has yet to see its beauty. Her first question as we headed out on the trip home: "Can we move here?"

The eye counts for more than the camera. You have a good eye.

I think the freestate project crowd would be more effective if they moved here rather than NH.
