The state of Ohio will lose two congressional seats thanks to the latest U.S. Census figures, and liberal stalwart Dennis Kucinich is worried his seat is on the chopping block.
In an e-mail to supporters Wednesday, the seven-term Democratic congressman and two-time presidential candidate says the Republican-controlled Ohio legislature is likely to eliminate his heavily Democratic Cleveland-area district.

If they would eliminate all of the Congressional paid staff I could live with 6,180 Congresscritters.
Also, the more members, the more work it is to do anything.
A late Christmas present to a former Clevelander? How nice!
?? I think she is pretty!
My personal choice would be a constitutional amendment doing away with congressional representative elections altogether.
I would rather pick our representatives for a once in a lifetime 2 year term in the same manner we pick jurors.

He's being thrown in with Marcia Fudge.
Very funny. It is just starting. These are tomorrow's good old days.
The government and the system here is not corrupt at all. It is very efficient and smoothing running, such that Al Capone could only dream about. In order to perceive it as it is, you just have to let go of some eighteenth century type notions.
It is, actually. Ohio has to cut out a GOP congressman somewhere.
They all probably have to suck up to Boehner, but he has to axe someone. My guess is it will be Bill Johnson or Bob Gibbs.
See 48.
Toledo, Youngstown, Cleveland, and Columbus means the rats have to realistically get 4 seats.
It also happened to Martin Frost of Texas.
It's a risk that Representatives have to live with.

Well thank you Mister Sunshine. Since you believe the Borg is going to absorb us and we are powerless to do anything about it, I guess we should just give up all hope and await our fate.
So far, we've been able to carve up Columbus in such a way as it has no Dem congresscritters and only did for the years of 07-08.
Realistically the Dems will have 4. 1 Toledo based, 1 Youngstown based, and 2 Cleveland based.
Interesting question: will the districted out Republican be the one to take on Sherrod Brown for the Senate in 2012?
Right, but that's the problem. With the way Columbus is growing, pizza slicing it is probably going to backfire by the end of the decade.
Cleveland doesn't really justify 2 districts anymore, imo. It makes much more sense to create a Columbus based district.
There are basically 3 things imo that will choose the Republican district to be chopped.
1. Someone runs for Senate. Jim Jordan's 4th is a great district to chop up, but he's backed away from running.
2. Someone royally pisses off Boehner.
3. The 2 new guys out west (Gibbs and Johnson) are tossed together.
With her uglier-than-a-mud-fence mindset, she would have to be at least an 11 on the 10-scale for me to find her remotely attractive. But I'm picky....
From Dennis’s lips to God’s ears.
Now,now don’t be ridiculous. A GOP controlled House will be less inclined to be corrupt. How much less? 10-20%.
Just calling them as I see them.
You’re assuming the pop grew...but a lot of states lost pop. Wonder if his district is one of them?
I would replay that we should call them the very moment we see them.
Holding politician's feet to the fire is the most effective tactic and I really don't give a damn if it's a violation of some Geneva accord. ;~))
Pressure on these guys should not be once every 2 or 4 or 6 years. It should be 24/7/365. Every day, remind them that their boss is not on K Street. Be sure they know who they work for.
Never let up. The Constitution is still worth defending. It is up to us.
I am an optimist. It does not seem too much use being anything else.
The total US population grew.
If the total reps grew with the total US population as the framers intended, then States would not lose a representative unless they lost population.
Isn't that the way it works now? Whatever...the last thing we need is more of them! Horrors!
