There are some things that we retain as memories that immediately bring fond thoughts of the past. The incredible voice of Fred Foy in the Lone Ranger radio and television series certainly qualifies!
For everyone interested in truly inspiring classic voice work, here is the script he made famous.
Hi-Yo, Silver! A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty Hi-Yo Silver
The Lone Ranger! With his faithful Indian companion, Tonto, the daring and resourceful masked rider of the plains led the fight for law and order in the early West. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear. From out of the past come the thundering hoof-beats of the great horse Silver. The Lone Ranger rides again!
Scout was Tonto’s horse.

Just went back and looked up Sgt Preston...His dog was “Yukon King”
Anyone remember “Broken Arrow” with Michael Ansara as Cochise???
This from Wikipedia is as I (75 YO) ...remember:
One relatively minor aspect of the character that tends to be given limited exposure in the actual productions is his blood relationship to The Lone Ranger, another character created by Striker. The Lone Ranger’s nephew was Dan Reid. In the Green Hornet radio shows, the Hornet’s father was likewise named Dan Reid, making Britt Reid the Lone Ranger’s great-nephew.
Bullet was Roy’s German Shepard Dog.
Nellie Bell was a Jeep. I believe the character was called Pat who drove it all the time. Real life name may have been Pat Buttram???
Those warm, magical childhood days of Saturday morning cartoons, accompanying by Campbells Chicken Noodle soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.
Gone forever with children’s programming today that has to deliver “a message”.
Sigh.

Having met Jay Silverheels at a party in the late fifties(Miami). The time I spent with him he was a very pleasent,”gentile” and very nice person. I would liked to have spent more time with him.
Try this “I’m Buster Brown I live in a shoe, my dog Tye he lives in there too!”.

Supposedly, Midnight the Cat was saying “Nice”
Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten that!
Old age and Jack can do that to a person.
Happy New Year and wish you a great one.
Are you old as I and can remember the radio programs of WW2?
Hap Harrigan, Ensign _____ Winslow, Jack Armstrong and bad dude “The Grey Ghost”
Side note: the Green Hornets car in early film/Tv may have been a 1941 Lincoln Continetal or a 1937 Lincoln Zephyr??? Henry Ford had Lebaron hand tool a 1941 Zephyr into a limousine for his son Edsel.
I LOVED Sky King!
I just ordered several classic LR episodes on DVD from Amazon 2 days ago.
I’m on my way to visit you for an ATRW LR marathon!
