Isabelle Caro, a French actress and model whose anorexic image appeared in a shock Italian ad campaign, has died at the age of 28.

Her longtime acting instructor, Daniele Dubreuil-Prevot, said that Caro died on November 17 after returning to France from a job in Tokyo.

Dubreuil-Prevot said she did not know the cause of death but that Caro 'had been sick for a long time,' referring to her anorexia. Tragic: Isabelle Caro, who appeared in this 2007 Italian ad campaign, has died at the age of 28

Caro featured in an ad campaign by Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani in 2007 for an Italian fashion house.

Under the headline 'No Anorexia,' images across newspapers and billboards showed Caro naked, vertebrae and facial bones protruding.

At 5ft 4in, she is reported to have weighed just 4st 8lb (68lbs) at the time.

Caro, who had her own blog site, said she had suffered from anorexia since she was 13 as the result of a 'difficult childhood'.

At the time of the campaign, she wrote: 'I've hidden myself and covered myself for too long. Now I want to show myself fearlessly, even though I know my body arouses repugnance.

'I want to recover because I love life and the riches of the universe. I want to show young people how dangerous this illness is.'

I hope she is in heaven cause she sure went through hell here on earth. Shame on all those who continually encourage “skinny” as the way to move ahead. It is sick and disgusting. This woman was way too young to die. I wish she could have had the strength to walk away from that sorry life. May she rest in peace.

Maybe its just my calloused lack of sympathy for self-inflicted wounds, but I do NOT mourn her passing.
She made her choice and put herself in the public eye. Anyone need a name for that?
It had two words. Neither of which conjure up feelings of "sympathy."

Whoever hired her, looking like that, helped encourage her to stay that way. A model? There is nothing attractive about that, at all!

Exploited. That’s the word I was trying to think of.

The fact that the fashion industry encourages this should be criminal. If you starved your pet to look like that, you would be arrested and charged with cruelty.

Being too thin is as unhealthy and unattractive as being too fat. Probably even more so, for at least fat people, for the most part, are having their nutritional needs met.

The medical program to treat her illness refused to take her because of her inability to pass some mental requirements.

That according to a CBS u tube interview about her trying to get well.

She was past the point of help. IOW.
She had already been in a coma due to her illness and been hospitalized a few times enough to get her healthy enough to release.

She claims a horrid childhood kick started her disorder when she was 13yrs. old.

She literally got ill when eating food. Sad indeed.

Then we were watching u tube lounge chair and a vid came up of a French fashion show and all those youngs gals reminded me of this sick now dead girl.
