Couldn’t they just force-feed her?

Poor thing. We permit strange things in the name of fashion. It kind of put the Chinese practice of foot binding into perspective.

Disturbing and so sad. I applaud her for appearing in this campaign. There is such a tendency to associate anorexia with sleek, gorgeous models - hey, they may technically be sick, but they look great! These pictures show the truth. Among other things, she looked 70 years old. May the poor lady rest in peace.

Would a society that can do that be worth living in?

Homosexual fashion designers have women believing men want that adolescent boy look leading to these sicknesses. A bit of weight does a woman good.

How can someone who looks that bad have ever been a model for anything other than an anti anorexia ad?

I know. I love Karen Carpenter's Christmas music. She had such a beautiful voice. Every Christmas I think of how a tragic loss it was that she died this way.

So far that I can tell, the only media outlets talking about this woman's death are American and British with the exception of one French news site that notes this woman 'caused a stir' with her anti-anorexia campaign against the fashion industry.
Her picture "... was banned by Italy's advertising watchdog while France's authority told French companies not to use it.", the French site reports.
Then you can go Google up some pictures of male European fashion designers, and you'll find that many of them are a bunch of pudgy overweight homosexuals that look like the Pillsbury Doughboy wearing a beret.

“Homosexual fashion designers . . “
You explained it in those three words. Modeling is anything from this skeletal extreme to a little less skeletal; but it’s still catering to the latent disire of men who either want little boys or else pedophiles who want little girls. - One of the female stars (I’ll not call names) didn’t want to have children because she was afraid that her stick thin silhouette would be ruined by the possible weight gain and figure ruining aspect of pregnancy that her older, rich husband apparently craved. - The absolute sickness of this celebrity culture is enough to leave it to the pit to rot.
