Dominique Buttitta wanted to get married in style, so she spared no expense on her upcoming nuptials: $30,000 to reserve a banquet hall outside Chicago; $11,000 for flowers and spot lighting; $10,000 for an orchestra; $5,000 on her wedding dress and veil.
As Buttitta excitedly continued preparations, the costs kept mounting. Then, four days before the big day, her fiance called the Oct. 2 wedding off.
With such short notice, she could not recover most the money she had spent so the 32-year-old lawyer is suing. Shes seeking more than $95,000 in damages, plus the costs of filing the suit.

He should have told her as the spending started to get out of control that he wasn’t comfortable with her blowing $100K on a one-day event, however important that day might be. He had to have known what she was doing. Perhaps her spending behavior was only the tip of the proverbial iceberg.
His failure throughout her planning/spending spree, and not having the courage to call it off till 4 days before the scheduled ceremony, speaks to a certain weakness.
Still, calling it off, even with only four days notice, beats all hell out of going through with the wedding. I think they are both fortunate not to have married each other. Sounds like they both have a good deal of maturing to do before getting into a marriage.
