But all the other cards we saw didn't charge anything UPFRONT that we could see.

Buy store cards...Old Navy, Macy's, Bass Pro Shops, Barnes and Noble, Subway, IHOP, Cracker Barrell. The major cards -- AmEx, Visa, Master Card, all charge, some $5.95 and $6.95 activation fees. The fee is right on front of the little envelope the card is in.

“I?m so old that everytime I see ?S&H?, I think of green-stamps. :) “

Me too.. Just did a paper that included Publix Supermarkets marketing techniques by using those. 1930-1980’s. I remeber the stamps and going to the store to pick up the toaster and coffee maker as a kid.. Not too old though. :o)

The ones I buy tack on the 4.95 after buying the $50.00 card. So the gift card receiver still gets to spend the full $50.00. The one who is out the 4.95 is the purchaser of the gift card.

I got charged $20 S&H from Amazon for a $1.50 item at Amazon yesterday.

I have to ask, why would you buy an item online for $1.50?

I've been buying from Amazon for years and have never had a problem.

Why not just give the actual $50 dollars?

My husband won a Honey Ham last year for Christmas. Someone told him the hams were small, don’t bother. I put the card up.

He won another ham this year, same place, same size. I sent my son to pick it up. Not only was the ham a good size, boneless and spiral cut, they also said if we brought in the old card they would honor that one too.

So, Honey Hams and Walmart cards, they are good and don’t charge a fee.

Wow. I get free shipping and delivery from Amazon (however I pay 46 dollars a year for this service :)). It is well worth it though will the amount of stuff I order.

I should clarify. Amazon wasnt the “seller”. I was buying multiple items and one happened to be a Bath and Body white citrus hand sanitizer. It ended up getting straightened out.
