CNO Issues Statement Following Vote to Repeal DADT (FREEP this article!)
U.S. Navy ^ | 12/18/2010 | Navy

Posted on 12/22/2010 11:59:51 AM PST by ViLaLuz

The Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. Gary Roughead, released the following statement following the vote to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell":

"I am pleased the Congress voted to repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" statute (section 654 of title 10, United States Code).

"This Senate action does not immediately change the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy.

"If the President signs the provision into law, there are still a series of steps that will take place before Don't Ask, Don't Tell is repealed.

"First, the Department of Defense will prepare the necessary policies and regulations to implement the change. We will also ensure that the force is provided training on the new policies.

"Second, the President, Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff must certify that the change can be made consistent with military readiness, military effectiveness, unit cohesion, and recruiting and retention.

"Finally, there is a 60-day period following certification before repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell takes effect.

"As we move forward our Navy's superb leaders, both officer and enlisted, will be key to a successful transition to the new policy. Navy leadership will continue to keep all informed.

"The United States Navy will remain the world's most ready, capable and professional Navy where all our shipmates will continue to be treated with dignity and respect."

President O and his man IN THE NAVY Mike Mullen were so happy when the Senate gave the undocumented CINC his early Christs mass present —they neglected to consider if there were open gays in the Navy and one fell overboard would it not cause confusion? Would the call be Man overboard, Wave Overboard— or What a relief.

I fear for the innocents. If memory serves, hepatitis is 100 times more likely to be transmitted than HIV, and those exercising a homosexual preference account for half of the new cases. I *would not* want to be on tour under sea for months on end in a submarine with anyone having an increased probability of carrying such a bug. It is a public safety issue, a morale issue, and cohesive effectivity issue. By bowing to political correctness, the strength of our forces has been diminished.

My comment (will see if it gets approved) -

This new policy is perversion of human morality and will result in violating the rights of thousands of military personnel. We segregate men and woman into different facilities (bunking and bathing) in order to prevent possible heterosexual indiscretions and protect individuals from this but then plan to institute a double-standard whereas people are FORCED to bunk and shower and work in closed quarters with people who OPENLY profess a perversion for the same gender. This flies in the face of the concept of ‘Equal Protection Under the Law’! Obama says it is good that people who profess a perversion for the same gender will no longer have to lie but this will result in FORCING thousands of soldiers to lie about their disgust for this type of behavior. This is a very sad day when our own government turns it military into a social experiment that will damage our troops and our National Security.

My comment, which I suspect will not be posted.

Once again the Navy demonstrates that mission completion will be subjugated to political correctness. This will create additional burdens for an already stressed fleet. Although that was determined to be of lesser importance than giving protected status based on a “lifestyle decision”. The CNO demonstrates a whole new meaning to the core value of commitment.

Does anyone seriously believe that this man would honor his oath to defend the Constitution against domestic enemies? Hm?

My five year old grand daughter expects Santa to visit, too.

Personally, I believe toadies are alive and well.

It’s now “thumbs up” 26, “thumbs down” 56. I thought more people would vote on this one.

"I am pleased the Congress voted to repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" statute (section 654 of title 10, United States Code)."

Walter E. Williams: The Racism of Diversity

excerpt:

Admiral Gary Roughead, chief of Naval Operations, says that "diversity is the No. 1 priority" at the academy.

Diversity at the Naval Academy, as at most academic institutions, is not about equal opportunity but a race and sex spoils system to achieve what the Navy brass see as a pleasing race and sex mix. They accomplish that vision by the removal of "artificial achievement barriers." Let's go over what the Naval Academy sees as an artificial achievement barrier. A black candidate with B and C grades, with no particular leadership qualities, and 500 on both portions of the SAT, is virtually guaranteed admittance. A white student, who's not an athlete, with such scores is deemed not qualified.

I guess the will get more diversity now. No wonder he is so happy. A politically correct leftist academic -who would of thought...

This will give some time for decent men and women to get out before the new military culture of sexual harassment and abuse begins.
