When I got home, I noticed that the receipt showed that the cashier had only charged me for one of the sets. I did not notice if she put both under the scanner so I don't know if it is a misread or an error on the part of the cashier.
There was a woman in front of me who caused her nearly a half hour of grief over coupons and sale prices, so she was a little distracted when she got to me. I don't want her to lose her job, but I feel the need to call and tell them that I was not charged for all my items.
It is only a $20 DVD but I feel a twinge on honesty. I would love to have the opinion of your readers.
Nah, it's easy-peasy. The cashier at Target (yes, really!) miscounted the dining chair slipcovers I bought one Thanksgiving, and when I went to CS to pay for the extra, I just didn't take the receipt in. They don't care if you have a receipt if you're giving THEM money - it's only when you want some back that you have to have it countersigned by J. Edgar Hoover.
You at least have the correction of not opening the goods and give it back the next time you are in the area. Stealing is stealing, and you will pay.
Both of you were wrong. She has no right, unless she owns the company, to give away their products. And you have no right to take them without paying.
A young girl with Down syndrome working in a Hallmark store gave me back $5 extra in change. I told her she gave me too much and tried to give it back, but she didn’t seem to understand and kept saying I was wrong. Then the manager came over and started yelling at me for trying to pull some kind of scam on the girl. I explained the girl gave me 2 fives instead of one and the woman yelled at me and said the girl never makes mistakes. I tried to leave the 5 on the counter, but she told me to take my money or she would call the mall cops and have me arrested.
It never stopped me from trying to make things right, but whenever something like that happens, I remember that time when I got kicked out of a Hallmark store for trying to give them their money back.
What would Target do if they found out they had charged you twice for it?
The same resulting action should apply if you found out they did not charge you at all.

Ummmm.... I paid for it and she was grateful that I caught her error.
The Lord allows you to be tested...do not fail the test.

Two days ago this very same thing happened to my wife. We were buying shirts for our kids. We bought four shirts. On the way out of the store, I realized the cashier missed one of the shirts as she was scanning. Two of the shirts were the same color and she simply did not notice it when she was checking us out.
My wife, just turned around and went back in and paid for it. No questions. No hemming or hawing. No worrying about someone that made a mistake.
She wouldnt be able to sleep that night over knowing she “stole” an eight dollar shirt.
And that is why I love her.
Well one time they actually gave me an extra bag, by the time I had to drive round trip back to Wasilla of about 22 miles just to return an extra bag of two bottles of Snapple and a couple of candy bars it would have cost me a good chunk in fuel cost, I drive a big Silverado dually and gas is around $3.50 a gallon up here.
Our Walmart has a revolving pedestal, the checker puts your stuff in a bag, turns it and fills another bag, but they don’t always make sure all the bags are off of it, I always give it a spin to make sure, but when they first came out a couple of years ago it was very common to either be a bag short or have someone elses bag.
I do not consiously steal, but with the way things are nowadays I won’t go to any great sacrifice like driving back over 20 miles in -40F temps to take bake less than $10 worth of stuff.
There really is a limit to how far one can reason with something like this. Maybe in the urban lower 48 with good weather, cheap fuel and such a person will just return an item, up here people have to in a lot of places fly EVERYTHING in, fuel, food, toys, mail.
Mistakes happen all the time, you just go with the flow and hope your new item from Amazon doesn’t get shipped to ARK by accident That has happened a lot to me *AK-Alaska, ARK-Arkansas*.
It might cost Target more to correct the error than it’s worth. When you bring it back, ask about that. Or you could call first to judge their response.
Or take the time to post a thread on it because it is gnawing away at you.
Yeah, pretty shocked at some of the responses from supposedly conservative freepers... wow. Someone took a water heater for free because of a cashier mistake??? Unbelievable.
