I haven’t heard anything but I’ve been informed that there is a rush on in Mississippi’s southern counties (Coast Electric Power Association) to install the remote accessible power meters. I would think that would be a precursor to exercising some control over individual power consumption. I know a person who works for Coast EPA at a fairly high level and, when I see him again, will see what I can learn.

We had that some rush in suburban Chicago some months ago. They were polite but very firm.

It is all about getting rid of sub contract labor to read the meters. Too many just estimate the reading and never get out of their car... too many bills have to be corrected... it will save them major bucks.

Here in Texas we received information on this (pamphlet with our power bill). It also said that they would control the power during peak times.
I say *NO* and I will resist, things are going too far.

Constipated Energy and the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company are attempting to get the ‘Smart Meter” scheme put into service in Maryland. From what I have read our energy use will be monitored, and peak usage times will have a sir charge to control use. If this is right we will have to get used to setting at home in the dark and cold several times a week. They are getting close, very close.
