LOS ANGELES – A storm pounding California with record rain and heavy snow spawned minor flooding, mudslides, small evacuations and road closures Monday, but forecasters warned that the bad weather's worst impact may be yet to come.

Virtually the entire state was affected, from coastal cities to the Central Valley, Sierra Nevada and southern deserts. Rainfall records fell, numerous traffic accidents snarled roads, trees tumbled and even some horse races had to be canceled.

Some locations in Southern California received more than 12 inches of rain,..

The storm was expected to intensify Tuesday night and Wednesday, with between five and 10 more inches.

5” of rain up here in Auburn 30 miles east of Sacramento up in the foothills. All was well until the electricity went out and, without the basement/garage sump pump, I had to bail for two hours yesterday morning. Not so bad though ... about an hour from here there’s 10 feet of fresh powder in the mountains. More on the way (YIKES!)

Nothing here. Well, a few flakes last night, now melted. Calm, about 34F.

No its a good thing. There is a decade of accumulated waste from illegals and bums that needs to be flushed out of the alleys and into the ocean.

Snow expected before MNF kickoff
http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=5938923

MINNEAPOLIS — For all the talk about the hard playing surface at TCF Bank Stadium, the biggest issue Monday night when the Minnesota Vikings host the Chicago Bears may be the slickness of the field.

The Minneapolis area is expected to get four to six inches of snow from daytime through the end of the game, according to Accuweather.com. All that precipitation on an artificial surface could lead to severe footing problems, which is one reason the Bears moved Saturday’s practice to Northwestern University, so they could become better acclimated to playing outside on turf.

The game-time temperature is expected to be 19 degrees with a wind chill of minus-1. Snow began falling at approximately 10 a.m. CT and continued into late afternoon.

BART had an electrical problem in the SF-Oak tunnel yesterday, don’t know if was rain related. Also a little problem with one of the refineries in Martinez due to power outage, nothing serious.

Did notice an old guy with a boat full of animals out looking for directions this morning, though... :D

The little woman thanks you. She has 7 weather links in the toolbar favorites as she goes for a 3 mile walk every morning between 6 and 7, rain or shine, thunderstorms,100 mph wind and even a 7.2 earthquake and she has done this since 1976. The first 34 years it was from 5am to 6am but she fell and broke her elbow a few months ago and decided that at 70 it was time to make a change...

Driving today was HECK, again. Freeways very wet, rain pouring down. Neighborhood getting saturated, intersections full of water. But now that I am safely inside, the sounds of the constant rain are kind of nice. But it’s a bear to be out in it.

It’s been a while since we’ve had nonstop rain here for 3 days. Even the few moments I was out with not much coming down, it was still spittin’.
