LOS ANGELES A storm pounding California with record rain and heavy snow spawned minor flooding, mudslides, small evacuations and road closures Monday, but forecasters warned that the bad weather's worst impact may be yet to come.
Virtually the entire state was affected, from coastal cities to the Central Valley, Sierra Nevada and southern deserts. Rainfall records fell, numerous traffic accidents snarled roads, trees tumbled and even some horse races had to be canceled.
Some locations in Southern California received more than 12 inches of rain,..
The storm was expected to intensify Tuesday night and Wednesday, with between five and 10 more inches.

Drove home early yesterday morning from Valencia; high-speed for the wipers until Redlands where it finally slacked off.
some of the resorts opened pretty early this year, this will make for a super deep pack, hopefully folks can get to some of them for the holiday too..
Could be the makings of an incredible disaster, perfect storm style.
Very heavy snow build up followed by a pineapple express could easily overwhelm the levees and flood the whole delta farming area and towns. Followed by salt water back up when the flood recedes.
Stock up on ketchup!
Every thing is fine in FReeper land.
Way too many car accidents with idiots that haven’t learned to slow down. Stopped to provide medical assist at an accident yesterday when a young women rolled a truck on the offramp. Not only was she dumb enough to roll her truck, she refused to be checked out by the paramedic team. Everyone that stopped to assist were so irritated when she refused all medical help, that we all left her to the CHP officer that was writing her a ticket.
Yep, can’t have any of that rain runoff get caught in new reservoirs now can we?
If the greenie weenies had their way California would be blowing up the existing dams.
It doesn’t seem like an unusual amount of rain here in the middle of the Willamette Valley (OR)!
Yosemite ought to have some pretty fantastic waterfalls come spring and the waterfalls may take a lot longer to run dry.
AH NOrm around my area just area flooding on the street I hear Hollywood hills got nail last night I did watch KCAL 9
Its been raining nearly for 2 months here in Oregon.
We are about 40% above normal for the month.
No serious damage yet in the Portland area.
Sucks to live in california. Oh, and the weather is crazy too.
Friday night had lightning, rain, 90 mph gusts and electric off. Woke to snow. Lost a calf, but otherwise all OK.
I yust hope all da delta smelt don’t drown.. poor little longfin smelt,, all them big fish eating ‘em and now this.. :-o
I’m hoping I-15 is passable from San Diego to Pocatello
on Thursday. The ground is already soaked from
days of rain. The heavy stuff is due tomorrow. Wet
ground and high winds usually cause lots of trees
to be blown down and big mudslides.
Mammoth really got. As of this morning, over 8 feet of new snow on the mountain, 10 feet at the upper elevations, and 6 feet of new snow in the town of Mammoth. Snowing right now and likely won’t stop until at least Thursday before more snow arrives this weekend.
well the weenies are trying hard to het the Hetch Hetchy torn down, and the sad thing is that thier those in this state that support it.
Mammoth is expecting up to ten more feet by this weekend.
HETCH HETCHY! I’ve been trying to think of that dams name for about a week. Thanks!
Yeah, the greenie weenies want another Yosemite but they don’t seem to realize that what MAY have been a natural wonder upstream of the dam is now probably buried under 100 feet of sediment. Better to have a water source than some silt monster that will destroy the river below the dam.
Watermelon Jihadists are crazy.
Being in Southern California, we prefer to call this Liquid Sunshine!
Short power loss in El Segundo, even stopped the overhead train. Not sure why but it set off a couple car alarms in the parking lot.
Will let you know if we surf to Mexico.
I will gladly trade anyone this rain for three feet of snow at this point but please don’t quote me on that...
