I have not posted a vanity for awhile now and I post this in good faith. I was thinking earlier about what the politcal lands would look like with Sarah Palin not in the next Presidential race.
I don't think it would be good.
I think she has a duty to run unless family reasons dictate otherwise. I hope and pray that she is not buying the media narritive that she is unelectable. I know she is a very smart person. But I hope she has more confidence than to give any thought to the idea that she might not be able to win. Any candidate might not be able to win. But you don't know until you try.
Other than family and personal reason. What are political reasons she shouldn't run in your opinion ?
I think the reason she should is short and simple. This country needs her and we are running out of time.
If she doesn,t run. I don't think I could stomach politics and I doubt I ever vote again. At one time I dreamed of serving in congress as a kid. But if we are a country where the media can destroy my politcal career and hurt my family. Why in the hell would I do it.
I am saying that Sarah Palin represents all of us underdogs and regular people. It would be demoralizing to the tea party and conservatives if 1. she doesnt run.. or 2. she lets the media define her image.
the stakes are too high for politics as usual.. I honestly feel like these are life or death moments for our country.
Wow. Do you actually believe the last part of this statement (her not being Pres. Reagan, I'll grant you ;))?
The term “dude” was an attempt to defuse what appeared to be growing antagonism. After posting, I regretted not using “FRiend” instead. I apologize for offending you.
I agree that we, both you and I specifically and FReepers in general, should be able to disagree without offense, but increasingly the discussions about Gov. Palin seem to tend toward rudeness and accusations of ulterior motives. Each time I’ve participated in a thread about Gov. Palin’s potential candidacy, I’ve been called all sorts of names for simply stating my opinion. I’ve noticed the same holds true for other FReepers as well.
Yes, not everyone who posts on Free Republic supports conservatism. It it the nature of the animal that there will be impostors on internet forums. If FReepers need to be reminded multiple times on each thread about Gov. Palin that not all posters are necessarily who they claim to be, then the general level of FReeper intelligence has plummeted since I first joined.
No offense taken at being called dude. It happens to me all the time. Maybe I write like a dude. :-)
May God bless you and your homeschooling.
I agree. I always call Clinton Billy Jeff. It has always bothered me when people have referred to her as Sarah. It seems even more provincial and obsequious when they say ‘our Sarah’. I say either the Gov. or just plainly Palin, more and more the latter, I’m finding.
Would you mind sharing in further detail what the interaction with Piper (’concept of time’) was about? As to the interview with Greta and her explanation of what happened on the Couric interview vis-a-vis the reading question, I agree that her answer was ill-constructed and insufficient. She said in Going Rogue that she had written editorials for several papers long before that interview, and I have verified that fact. The correct way to have answered the question might have been to say jokingly, “Shucks, Katie, I see that you have not read any of my editorial columns on energy in either the Washington Times, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, etc..” If she missed the first opportunity, she should have had the wherewithal to at least say it the second time. “I was frustrated with the condescension directed at me given that prior to that interview, I had had my views on energy published on the editorial pages of ............” I’m disappointed with her handling of the question in a friendly forum on a second occasion.
Great vanity. It seems that if what many have posted here about her is true then she has a moral duty to run to save the country, no excuses. And over the past year or so many have posted that she was actually all ready running, but just not announced it, and that others are just to blind too see it. If she doesnt run (announce) those past appraisals will look very silly.
Thanks again for a great post. Sorry I am late.
Unlike you, though, I fully support Sarah. I’ve seen a lot of PDS in your posts.
Palin is already more articulate talking about her positions to any audience than W will ever be.
