I think that with the exception of the small cannons on them at present they are meeting his expectation of what he expects from a tank division. Realize that Patton's philosophy on tank warfare is not to use them as a frontal battering ram, but as a fast attack force that is to get into the enemy's rear areas and wreak havoc from behind. While addressing a lawyer's club meeting in Columbus, GA he made this statement: (I don't have a date on this but it would be around this time while he is stationed at Ft. Benning)
You can kill more soldiers by scaring them to death from behind with a lot of noise than you can by attacking them from the front.
