I had something like that many months ago. Was SO annoying took me hours to figure out what to do to get rid of it. Here is my suggestion, download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware its a great program and its free. Download it, update it to the latest version, then go into safe mode and let it do a FULL scan, it will hopefully detect that particular virus and delete it, once its done deleting it, then you can reboot in normal mode. I had something similar a few months ago, told me that I had to download some application to get rid of it, turns out those applications are viruses as well
I’ve been hit with viruses from time to time. My advice is to back up all your files and then take it to a pro to have it cleaned. I downloaded all those free programs and they did nothing for me. In fact, they fight against each other. I’ve forgotten which ones I used, but SpyBot was one of them. By the time I was done fooling around and turned it over to the Geek Squad, I had more than 15,000 viruses on my computer.
I now use a gizmo called “Click Free” that backs up my computer every day. I installed the multiple version of it on my network at the office. This gadget cost only $99 for the single version and about $150 for the multiple version — available at Best Buy.
I also have Carbonite, advertised by Hannity and Rush, that backs up my files off site. That works, and I restored my work computer with it a couple of months ago when I was blind sided by a virus that just came in and zapped my while I was working. I’m not quite sure why my network consultant had me install the second program.
I had something attack my lap top and it virtually took it over....lucky for me, my bright sil sat down, pulled up on his ipod instructions on how to get rid of it and he got rid of it......took several minutes but it got done....
