ANN ARBOR, Mich. It feels like a football Saturday at Michigan Stadium. Traffic is heavy. Fans are tailgating. Everyone is warming up for a 3 p.m. clash between rivals Michigan and Michigan State.
Only this isnt a football Saturday. Its a hockey Saturday.
When the P.A. announcer gives the attendance, he wont tell the fans they are part of the largest crowd watching a football game anywhere in America today, as he usually does. He is expected to declare that they are part of the largest crowd to have watched a hockey game.
Anywhere. Ever.

Too bad my Spartans are getting their heads handed to them.
Is Algore there to guarantee the ice doesn’t melt?
Please, no!!! My Monday morning boss will not be fit to be around should this happen. Make it a close and exciting contest...
A bit off topic, but my son Broke his collarbone today in a midget ice hockey game. Note to son, don’t go east to west with head down.
Sorry to hear that. Hope your son takes your advice.
Thanks.
MSU hockey: Wolverines blank Spartans, 5-0, in "Big Chill
Oh, just great.
Michigan ping?
If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
I had the good fortune to be there in a sky box. One of the most enjoyable sporting events I’ve ever attended. B2 flyover to punctuate the National Anthem, fireworks after each of Michigan’s five goals (hope they can get a refund on the extras they bought assuming MSU would score, hee hee hee), record setting crowd and choreographed fireworks afterwards, perfectly timed to The Big Chill soundtrack.
Skybox? You wimped out! You should have been out there in the seats freezing your behind off! :P
I truly do miss going to Yost for the hockey games. They were much more fun than the football games, imho.
Wimped out? Heck, we were roughing it. We opened all the windows five times to hear the crowd cheering for Meeechigan goals. That let in quite a draft and cooled the suite down to a blustery 72 degrees. (;
