***I also HAD a .22 Mossberg from the 40s and it is a VERY reliable and well sighted gun. I would prefer a scoped Marlin****
I lost a nice 42-mb Mossburg. The best rifle in .22 is the Remmington Nylon 66.

I would agree on that its always a good idea to have some emergency cash as well as using it as much possible to purchase your supplies.
Always assume that if there is paperwork involved, certain parties will know about it.

I **believe** they are illegal in some places. You are probably correct. I'm guessing in places like Chicago, NY and MA only the government's own thugs are allowed to have them. Of course without registration who's to know?

Two other very important things, IMHO...
If there is a bread line, GET IN IT. If you don't, everyone knows you have supplies and you then become a target.
Realize that you can't stock everything, learn everything, and plan for everything. If at all possible, get to know those people around your homestead who are of a similar mindset.

Here's another option. Portable, filters about 100 gal, around $35, replaceable filters.

HORRIBLE advice!
Did you see the people getting trampled in stores on Black Friday? Any disaster situation will make that look like a cakewalk.
Place yourself or family in that situation at your own peril!

CZ52 - usually less than $100, bullets @ 10 cents a round.
8 bullet clip, penetrates body armor, so loud that it will scare away people

I’m good with the self defense, good with the medical, good with the radios, coldweather gear, need more food, but have a few weeks worth, good with the batteries, flashlights knives, books, manuals, etc.
There is just that sick feeling I always get that there is something i’m missing.

Metal or plastic cans make a difference? Yes - go with metal. Plastic is permeable, and on long term storage it occasionally splits. Back in the bad old Carter shortage days, some people in a nearby subdivision to where I was living then stored gas in plastic milk jugs in their garage. Their water heater was in the garage. Either one of the jugs split or enough vapor oozed out due to the permeability to set the whole mess on fire - goodbye house.

There is always a gap. As long as you keep thinking, there will always be a gap that must be filled.
And you just keep hoping that someday never comes, so you have more time to prepare.
