How does a shark suddenly develop man killing tendencies?
I mean you're in the water and he's a shark. The only thing that suddenly develops is his appetite and your role in the outcome.

But whatever the details, big aggressive sharks must consume a rather large (again details escape me) percentage of the body weight each day. That means they are going to nibble at anything within range to determine if it suits their tastes...and that certainly includes swimmers.
