I've had this page bookmarked for years. For some reason, I thought that Craigslist might take it down because it's getting old, and I figured I'd share it.
This story is so quintessentially American to me. A happy and loved child, a loved animal, and a good, anonymous person.
It's probably my favorite thing ever, and I hope you enjoyed it.
Merry Christmas!

Now I have to explain why a gruff 53 year old man is tearing up at work. I loved the piece even if it is ruining my image.

I've held on to a copy of that since I first seen it. I figure I may need to borrow from it when my dog now 12 passes, and I have to deal with my little boys grief and my own.
By the way, it is not above God's power to bring out pet back to us when we go to Heaven someday. After all he created the pet specially for us in the first place, he is more than capable to do it again. Heaven will not lack one thing that will keep us happy, if it pleases God as well.
There is a book on the subject called “Cold noses at the Pearly Gates”.

There’s something in my eyes, must be dust or something.

Could have replied with this.
A DOG FOR JESUS
I wish someone had given Jesus a dog
As loyal and loving as mine
To sleep by His manger and gaze in His eyes
And adore Him for being divine.
As our Lord grew to manhood His faithful dog
Would have followed Him all through the day
While He preached to the crowds and made the sick well
And knelt in the garden to pray.
It is sad to remember that Christ went away
To face death alone and apart
With no tender dog following close behind
To comfort its Master’s Heart.
And when Jesus rose on that Easter morn
How happy He would have been
As His dog kissed His hands and barked its delight
For The One who died for all men.
Well, the Lord has a dog now, I just sent Him mine
The old pal so dear to me
And I smile through my tears on this first day alone
Knowing they’re in eternity.
Day after day, the whole day through
Wherever my road inclined
Four feet said, “I am coming with you!”
And trotted along behind.

I did enjoy it very much thank you. I hope her parents got her another dog right away. People are so hurt when a pet dies, that they think they can never love another one, but another one to love is just what they need. The lucky ones among us (like me) get to out live many animals and there is no shortage of animals that need us.
