Killer/Serial Killer Groupies (Vanity)

Posted on 12/05/2010 3:37:34 PM PST by Ptarmigan

I never understood why some people are so attracted to killers and evil people. They write letters to serial killers or even marry them.

They remind me of people who are sympathetic with evil figures or those women who convert to Islam. What is with these kind of people?

I’ve read that they are similar to those who obsess over other celebrities in that the person believes that meeting or knowing a celebrity makes a little celebrity rub off on them. It falsely raises their self esteem.
The difference with those who ‘love’ murders was said (in the article I read)to be an extreme of those who feel that they have a special relationship with bears, or wolves, or sharks etc - they feel special in that they can associate with people whom others fear and they do so with a ‘magical’ belief that because they are special, the killer would never harm them, could never harm them etc. And some believe that they possess the power to heal the murder - that they alone ‘understand him’ etc. I find those people disquieting in general and sometimes, when they are interviewed on TV, I find them false and empty.

A small percentage of people are naturals at Stockholm syndrome, so natural that they don't even need to be held hostage. They identify with anyone who has carried out brutal acts to prevent themselves from identifying with the unfortunate victim.

That is a very interesting insight, and would explain a lot about many liberals. They sympathize with the perpetrator, because to even think about the victim is so unbearably painful that they have no choice but to put the victim out of their minds as firmly as possible.

On the other hand you rarely hear about women being serial killers.

That is pretty much exclusively the behavior of men.

Some sick woman confuse someone having one’s name in the news with celebrity and distinction, and they want to be associated with someone celebrated and distinctive. Yes, it is sick. In the cases where the guy eventually is sprung, the relationships fall apart because outside of prison and the glare of notoriety, these guys lose their allure for these (bizarre) woman.

I am intrigued with the way serial killers are sometimes tracked down and convicted. I want the bad guys locked up or croaked.

You think that's more of a bizarre phenomenon then serial killers being 99.999999% of the time men?

That might explain why so few men date women serial killers. Because they are practically non existent.

There are men like that too, but very rare since female killers and serial killers are not that common. I saw a video of one.

There are not many female serial killers. Most of them are covert and target victims close to them.

Female Serial Killers
Elizabeth Bathory-One of the most prolific killers in history. At least 650 people.
Aileen Wuornos-Killer prostitute.
Kristen Gilbert-Nurse who killed 4 patients.
Dana Sue Gray-Killed 3 elderly woman.
Carol M. Bundy-The Sunset Strip Killers.
Myra Hindley-Moors murders.
Rosemary West-Husband, Fred West, killed 10 people.

There are many female killers I can think of.
Diane Downs-Shot 3 of her children and killed one of them.
Gertrude Baniszewski-Torture mom. Killed Sylvia Likens.
Casey Anthony-Killed her daughter, Caylee Anthony.
Susan Smith-Killed her sons, Michael and Alexander Smith.
Betty Broderick-Killed her ex-husband Dan Broderick and Linda Kolkena.
Jennifer San Marco-Mass murderer who killed 7 in at a Goleta, California on January 30, 2006.
Pamela Smart-Killed her husband William Flynn.
Brenda Spencer-”I don’t like Mondays.” Killed 2 people at Cleveland Elementary School.
Lori Drew-Missouri MySpace Mom. Drove Megan Meier to suicide.
Patricia Krenwinkel, Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabian, and Susan van Houten-Tate/LaBianca Murders.

An infinitesimal amount compared to the list of male serial killers.

Let's not be silly.

Even stranger, this is pretty much exclusively the behavior of women. You never hear about men marrying female serial killers.

Most serial killers are the dreaded white male, though not all. Women serial killers are very rare, but they do exist in recorded history. The reason this attraction is pretty much exclusively the behavior of women is because serial murder is pretty much the exclusive behavior of men.

Mark Harmon is the only reason I watch NCIS re-runs. Well, that and my husband likes the show itself.

Painful? Hmmm... I think you underestimate the selfishness of liberals. They may feel pain but it's only ever their own - perhaps pain over their cowardice, in having to denounce the perpetrator to support the victim.

Liberals really are mentally ill - but not in some agonizing way. Rather, liberals have a black hole where their conscience should be. Their behavior is perfectly explained by sociopathy - except for the number of them. There are so MANY liberals, that it is difficult to conclude that they are ALL psychotic sociopaths.

But they are.

Yes, perhaps it applies to liberals in general, maybe to the wealthy liberal who seems to me strangely to support the politics of the shakedown artist.

I think we’re both right. There is no single explanation that covers all liberals.

I read recently that sociopathy is estimated to affect about 4% of the population. It seems that liberalism attracts people with a range of personality disorders, not just sociopaths.
