This December, it's a different kind of drama.
The past two SEC championship games were 3 1/2-hour commercials for the league's dominance. Powerhouses Florida and Alabama squared off in de facto national championship semifinals. Both games starred past or eventual Heisman Trophy winners, neither with a whiff of controversy, and two coaches with reputations of success exceeded only by their capacity for grimness.
The 2010 version tastes a little different. South Carolina is coached by one of the conference's most despised (and successful) coaches. Auburn brings a perfect record, a shot at a national championship and a Heisman candidate, runaway favorite Cam Newton. Of course, there's this one little detail about Newton and alleged recruiting issues that you may have heard about.
"Each year seems to have a new level of excitement," former SEC commissioner Roy Kramer said. "Certainly this year is another one."
Interest has scarcely waned. On Thursday, tickets on the re-sale website stubhub.com were going for an average of $460. It's a drop from last year, but on par with 2008 prices. This season, CBS has drawn higher ratings in its coverage of the SEC than it did last year with its season-long homage to Florida quarterback Tim Tebow.
The culmination, held in the Georgia Dome for the 17th year, figures to provide a suitable conclusion to a regular season rife with strange turns. Which is to say that even if Auburn loses to drop to 12-1, it could still make the BCS championship game.

You betcha!
Happy you today, Jem!
I think Spurrier must have had flashbacks of that game against Tommie Frazier and Nebraska.
Yes. Happy, happy me.
Cam’s quote at the end of the game:
“A wise man once told me, ‘If God be for me, than who could be against me?’”
War Eagle and Amen!!!!
“Well a lot of Gators have done worse and still were on the team. (Chris Rainey anyone?)”
Good point...does may you wonder just how smart some of these “expert” coaches are....Bama has an offensive coordinator that fits into the “smart” category.
Another source that doesn't have a name or any way to validate it. Without sources, articles like this are a waste of time.
I loved what Cam said in his interview - to me his countenance is so clear and endearing.
...does may you wonder just how smart ... the smart category
Does may you wonder how unknowingly buying a stolen laptop is
somehow selling it and how smart they are making that up.
Auburn will soon forfeit every game that Scam played in ,in my opinion, and be the recipient of the death penalty for knowingly violating the rules and then covering the obvious violations up. Despicable.
Based on what, all I’ve heard is a lot of hearsay, I haven’t heard a shred of proof.
The proof of “on the take” is overwhelming,in my opinion . Now all we need to know is what was meant when he reneged at “OL” Miss and told the recruiter,in my opinion, that the money was just too much at Auburn. Get ready. The FBI is involved.
Did you bump your head before you wrote that? Just a guess, you're a Truther who loves conspiracy theories without proof? NCAA are chumps too right? LOL!!!
If guilty, he should. If not guilty (or not proven within reasonable doubt), then he shouldn't.
Did Cam know that his wacky dad was trying to pimp him out. I don't know. Most of us have a father or someone kin to us that is weird and will do just about anything for a buck. Does every money grubbing dopey father (and agent) out there talk things over with their son before doing it. No. If there was more hard evidence, it probable would of came out by now. Of course NCAA investigations can take as long as they want it too. 20 years from now, Cam could write a tell all book and spill the beans.
There was an article I read the other day that talked about this "loophole". Could college players let their dad's pimp them out and deny it later? Yes.

Did Cam do it?? There is where the assumptions begin and facts get tangled or lost for people like you. I hope he didn't do it, you hope he did do it. But that is what makes these rivalry's so fun. Do I think AU paid him, nope (this where I am making assumptions). Did Cam's dad try at AU to extort money, we don't know. Did Cam's dad just try extorting money at MS and after being told NO WAY, decide not to try it again. We don't know. Just how crooked was Cam's father? We don't know beyond what has came to light at MS. Would I be surprised if it was found that Cam got offered money to come to AU? Yes, I think they have a program that is admired enough around the country to not need that type of recruitment. If Cam is found to be using his father knowingly (not the other way around) to get $$ would I support his expulsion? Yes ... If Auburn promised money to Cam (or family) would I support the death penalty? Absolutely yes, I want a clean program run with pride no matter the outcome.
Where did all of those "other people" go? They were posting here earlier.... who were *so sure* S. Carolina was going to destroy Auburn????
:::::::crickets::::::: :)
We do know. Cecil Newton "insinuated" pay for play to a non-MS recruiter, who spoke to another non-MS representative who happened to be a a MS graduate and football player, who informed MS, who informed the SEC, who informed the NCAA. Rules say the "family member" has to directly deal with the school on behalf of Cam. Neither happened. End of story.
Let the Tidey Rollers piss and moan and make up their conspiracy theories because they embarrassingly lost to South Carolina too.
I loved the article pissant posted how AU would lose to the Tidey Rollers and be so forlorn they would lose to South Carolina too.
LOL!!!
Shows you how crappy the SEC really is.
Crappy enough to win 5 straight national titles.
Over-rated pansies.
But you agreed, I think you said “I couldn’t have written it better” or close enough.
Your credibility is what on what the SEC really is? LOL!!!
6 SEC teams in the top 25, sometimes 7, every week almost so AP, ESPN and the BCS know less than you? LMAO! hehehe...
Let’s see how the pansy conference does this time.
