Part of the reason the US is not getting these international events (e.g., Olympics) is the Visa requirements for most of the world. Some that want to visit the US from a non favored nation (e.g., Brazil, Thailand) has to pay $131 USD and have an interview at the US embassy. Then there is no guarantee the applicant will get a visa.

Then there is no guarantee the applicant will get a visa. They should just sneak across the Mexican border, problem solved.
