I wonder if the dogs could be trained to sniff out each chemical that could be used to make and explosive.....

I read somewhere that a dog can seperate the smells. When the pizza guy comes to the door, the dog doesn’t smell pizza - it smells flour, pepperoni, mushrooms, etc. I would imagine they could be trained to hit on the individual components.

Years ago I was at an airport. Looked pretty scruffy after being out in the field for awhile. Long hair, 2-week scruffy beard, beat-up cowboy hat. Was watching the security guy with his dog at baggage claim.

It wasn’t until I picked up my first silver metal box that the dog keyed in on me. He kept his eye on me real good as I kept accumulating my field gear. Not sure if it was training, or if he just noticed that mine wasn’t the usual luggage.
