I threw out some birdseed for the ground birds. I heard a commotion out my office window........ a horde of grackles descended and ate it all up in about 10 minutes.

The white throats, elegant towhees and the juncos were left out. Fortunately I had plenty more for them once the greedy horde departed.

Yes, they sure are greedy. I had the sweetest Aunt in Florida who has been gone now quite a while, but she loved ALL the birds. She didn’t get angry when those kind of birds came to her yard or even those big black birds. She would say “They get hungry, too.” She had a beautiful yard and many feeders, etc.

I am not as generous. In the summer, it looks like 50 of them in the bird bath and then the water is dirty or gone! We can’t control that though, can we? I could put up a sign that would advise “Certain Birds Only”....LOLOL!
