Several streets closed, building evacuated as police investigated
Several Miami streets were closed off and an office building evacuated after a suspicious package was found inside a parked van Tuesday.
The driver of the van became suspicious of the package and alerted police. The bomb squad was called in after the package was located in the back of an Avianca Express delivery van shortly before noon in the area of Southwest 8th St. and 51st Ave.
Several adjacent streets were closed and employees in the nearby Preferred Medical building were evacuated as police worked to determine if the suspicious package posed a threat.
The bomb squad, suited up and with the help of a robot, removed packages from the van with a rope and from a distance in order to get to the suspicious parcel. Once they did, it was discovered that the parcel wasn't dangerous, but rather filled with toys.
The cast of "Toy Story" has not been called in for questioning yet.
That’s what I told my kids...No Toys for you!!
It's hard to find good help during the Christmas Season.
And I'm almost certain some brain dead poster will come along to say this incident was the terrorists "testing us".
Following the DHS/TSA security protocols, we’ll have to stop shipping toys.
