We were told that we had to show a driver’s license to board a plane. That would make us safer.

Had to do it since the 1980s. Except that was something the airlines wanted so that you would not buy a discount roundtrip fare ticket and sell one way passage on it to save even more money. I once flew a one way trip on a roundtrip ticket (did nothing with the rest) because the one way fare was hiked up that much. And then they OVERSELL the seats on a plane (hey, can I get “standing room only?”).

Didn’t make us one bit safer on 9-11-2001.

Additionally, there have been several notable cases where DMV workers knowingly provided legitimate driver’s license IDs to illegal alien middle easterners AFTER 9-11 in exchange for payment to look the other way and approve some documentation. One was murdered within 3 days of her arrest in the plot.

We should be showing internationally recognized passports or nothing at all to board domestic flights. Ask for the credit card when you pick up your ticket but nothing else.
