Why fight them if your goal is to be just like them?
“Do you think it to be more noble to go broke?”

Thank you for your question. It presumes we have no say in our choices. It presumes we as a nation have no choice, except to send our national skills, our wealth and eventually our power to whatever nation on the world pays people less.
It presumes we are victims.
Heck with that. Our nation originally used import tariffs to protect US industry - and finance government.
Do you realize by strange coincidence, at this time the cost of our national government is almost (exactly) the size of our national trade imports.
Is there any question, our nation ran better originally than it does now?
Perhaps that original plan, was the right one.
I say, we abolish the IRS. Eliminate taxes on corporations, and capital gains.
While enacting a blanket, across-the-board 100% tariff on all imports. No exceptions.
The money from the tariffs would cancel out the money lost from all those other taxes. At least, at first.
Naturally as it became profitable for US domestic manufacturing again - the size of our import tariff revenues would shrink. Since, we’d be making stuff here again.
At which point. Horrors: We could start shrinking the government, concurrent with the decreasing tariff revenues.
The rise in domestic manufacturing would increase employment, and shrink the cost of all those “entitlements” which unemployed people need just to stay alive.
Finally, the government would not be picking winners or losers - just one single tariff on all imports.
Let the market decide, after that, who wins.
America would be the first winner. IMO.
The current budget is about $3.5 trillion. Currently, imports for the year are running at about a $1.8 trillion pace.
The elite, left and right, just keep believing the world would work better if they were running things and had absolute power, the only differences are minor.
We get painted as the radical right, but we aren't, we are the center.
There are a lot of military strategies as well as political in this list.
No 1 - You could make a case that the Cold War was an extended version
No 3 - Native American codetalkers in WWII could fall into this. Also, I think any type of interrogation would use this tactic.
No 4 - Republicans are constantly held to this, but we saw this year where dems were forced to live to their “racial justice” rules by creating a new position just for Clyburn so the CBC didnt raise hell. If they are fighting internal battles, they are not fighting us as hard.
No 7 - We may have seen this in Co and Nv with the Tea Party in the short run.
No 8 - We have done well here. We have forced the dems in WV to shoot the health care bill in a commercial. How many dems run as liberals outside of urban areas. That should tell you what type of country we have.
No 9 - Fear can paralyze a person. When you see the action, you can rationalize it.
No 10 - Keep attacking until they get so fed up, they react emotionally, rather than rationally. It is much easier to deal with an emotional adversary, because you can predict their moves and counter.
No 13 - Obama/Reid/Pelosi finally saw this tactic used against them.
RINO's may be weenies when pretending to oppose Communists but they are tigers against Conservative. McCain is a primary case in point.
And what exactly did "fighting honorably," not resorting to "vicious personal attacks," "staying above the fray," and being a "calm voice of reason" get us in 2008?
The communists have had free run since they succeeded in taking out Joseph McCarthy. They no longer pretend to support the workers. Instead they seek to divide and conquer by splitting society along the lines of race, gender, age, and sexuality. White Christian men have replaced capitalists as the primary class enemy targeted for destruction. That is because many capitalists and banksters are supporting cultural marxism. Secondary class enemies consists of anyone else who “betrays the revolution” by not siding with the communists. White Christian men who try to save themselves by political correctness are digging their own graves.
RINO= right-wing Leftist.
Actually, most if not all of the Alinsky “tactics” were not invented by Alinsky, but borrowed from this convention or that.
He simply organized them into a book, dedicated it to Lucifer, and then directed spoiled, affluent, radical, useful idiots to read it.
Thanks for your clarification - learning some of this, and still thinking on the relationships. There is fluctuation.
However there’s a good match between our imports, and our current tax receipts:
(perhaps that would have been a better comparison for me to make).
So a program of tariffs would not so much fully fund our government, as it would fund our government to the same point it currently is funded, by the current tax structure:
2008 total imports: 2.52 trillion dollars.
http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/statistics/highlights/annual.html
2009 tax receipts: 2.56 trillion dollars.
http://www.gpoaccess.gov/usbudget/fy09/pdf/budget/outlook.pdf
Can’t really get any closer than that.
Admittedly the imports total decreased the following year - the total fluctuates with the dollar and the economy.
Pretty much a match though.
I admit it’s not a perfect solution, but a good starting point for discussion of real practical ways we can turn things around.
It is accurate anyway, to sasy a simple 100% blanket import tariff at current import volumes however, would pretty much replace all our current taxes confiscated from Americans. Dollar for dollar.
Still sounds good, to me.
Kudlow warns about tariffs: "China and the U.S. should work out a deal. Let's not repeat the Depression Era Smoot-Hawley tariff and trade war. Republicans are just as much to blame here as Democrats. Meanwhile, the threat of higher tariffs, on top of higher tax rates, only adds to uncertainty and weakens the foundation of growth."
Thanks, for the insightful dialogue. I may get back later but the thought of protectionism is fightful to me. Actually, one would need to research the dollars of exports to imports and see if we want to risk the same types of tariffs being put on all of America's exports. We may be a net loser, and I think we would be.
Yes, I notice RINOs favor progressivism.
See Communist Goal #15:

Yeah, a comparison where you weren't off by 50% would have been better.
So a program of tariffs would not so much fully fund our government, as it would fund our government to the same point it currently is funded
Yeah, if you're a liberal and don't think raising taxes will change behavior.
I admit its not a perfect solution
You think?
It is accurate anyway, to sasy a simple 100% blanket import tariff at current import volumes
Would import volumes change?
would pretty much replace all our current taxes confiscated from Americans.
Tariffs aren't taxes confiscated from Americans?
“we should be saying ‘RINO-Progressives’ rather than just RINOs”
Good idea.
YES...1000% agree
I think a RINO is just a Commie with a job
Great post
100% tariffs on all imports is a much better idea than the current Marxist income tax that we currently have.
The current system on wealth-redistributing Free Trade is a abject failure. I am beginning to wonder who is more ignorant: The Commies who still think Communism works....or The Free Traders still thinking Globalist Free Trade works. I guess maybe its the main thing shared by Communists and Free Traders
RINO’s are Progressives after all...
Thank you, Mr. Alinsky. I was hoping you would turn up.
We’ve agree on nothing, my friend, other than your admission that this thread contradicts its premise.
