Linda Lovelace seemed to have had a very sad life. I did see Deep Throat, in college. I guess it must be a generational thing, but apart from it being pornography, I didn't see anything "ground breaking". I walked out partway through - not my cup of tea.

I've read that she was beaten, too. I've also read that at least some of the bruises were the result of a car accident that occurred before the movie. I don't know what the truth is, but I imagine that being in such a movie would be difficult to deal with later in life.

Here is a column written by Joe Bob Briggs about her, written around the time that she died. It mentions Sammy Davis, Jr. http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2002/04/23/Linda-Lovelace-dies-in-car-crash/UPI-54451019598347/ There are no dirty pictures in the article, but some of the subject matter may make it not-safe-for-work. It's difficult to read about such debasement in any event.

As an aside, someone told me that the accident which claimed her life took place on 1-25 just past Monument, Colorado, which is close to my home. I remember when she died, being surprised that she lived so close.

From all the stories I’ve heard about Lovelace, it’s interesting that no mention is ever made about some other types of porn that she supposedly made, that being concerning beastiality (sex with dogs). I don’t know if it’s true that she ever made that kind of film, but, I remember hearing a rumor about it many years ago. If that’s true, I wonder how they’d work that into a feature film about her life.

That’s an excellent article by Briggs.

I just read the article by Briggs. That was well done. I am 50 and grew up in the era that it would have been chic to see this movie but I just never ended up seeing it. Glad I didn’t...I sort of feel like I need to wash just by reading Briggs article.
