Question: were you even alive and cognizant (say 14 yrs old or better) when the President was murdered?
It is the bane of history writers and buffs that it is almost impossible to view history from the perspective of those living it at the time. If you ever have the extreme good fortune to meet a teacher of history that can provide accurately that perspective....hang on to them like grim death!
It is wrong, painful, and very misleading to apply our current knowledge to events of the past...as it is in this case.
The evil John Kennedy was (or was not) engaged in was completely unknown at that time. Sure, he had substantial groups of "haters" and detractors - what politician didn't (think hard of what most were saying about Nixon at the time), but as to the "personal history" that has been uncovered since then not only about John, but Robert...and of course Teddy, was completely unknown at that time.
Crazy as it sounds and looks to us now, they were the absolute top...the very "First Family" and yes, Camelot.
One can only wonder what our present day is going to look like 50 years from now??? I'll be long gone by then, but you may still be around!
Here's a fun effort for ya...write your thoughts about some of the political figures of our day...print it out (if you do it on a computer), then seal it in an envelop.
Open the envelope 50 years from today...and see how your thoughts written "as the events happened and the people lived" match up with what history will be saying.

You sound like a typical defender of liberal numbnuts. Which is what the Kennedy's were. Bottom line. Conservative FRee Republic is no place to be defending JFK or his brothers. Period. And No liberal should be given a pass for his/her actions today, or from 50 years ago.
My strict Catholic relatives in Johnstown PA were riding high when JFK was elected in 1960. Many of them even went to his DC inauguration. My Dad and I wanted Nixon. As with most American homes, for four solid days the TV was turned to coverage of the President's death and funeral. NBC, NOT CBS. That was then, this is NOW!

The term "Camelot" was applied to the Kennedy Family by Jackie, post assassination. As we know now, it was a fallacy then and a bigger fallacy today.
