The rules are simple, if a player gets seen even trying to throw a punch they’re out, any smart player on the receiving end of that SHOULD dive like Greg Louganis just to maximize the chance that the ref sees it. But the penalty isn’t for the effect, it’s for the intent, the instant Seymour started swinging he broke the rule, which is an automatic ejection.

"...the instant Seymour started swinging he broke the rule, which is an automatic ejection."They don't enforce it like that. Players swing all the time. Connect and the flags fly... Though I did witness 3 or 4 occasions in different games yesterday where punches were thrown and nobody was ejected. A couple of non-calls and a couple of personal fouls. But no other ejections after a swing, connected or not.
On another note, Asante Samuels should have been tossed after his blatant helmet to helmet hit on the Giant receiver. But I wouldn't have tossed him for the hit necessarily, I would have tossed him for his pimp strut afterward. If I were king that would have been his last play in the NFL.

I'm confused....
I was away from home and the only way to hear the game was on Sirius radio. On that play, the Steelers announcers were convinced from what they saw that one, if not two of the Steelers were going to get ejected for punching Raider players before Seymour did his bit. Image their glee when Seymour was the one that got ejected. They shut up about the Steeler punches real quick like. That's also why you probably don't see any film footage of what precipitated the Seymour helmet hit. The Steeler announcers even said (perhaps wrongly) the open hand helmet slaps should not be an ejection but in this case when the play is way over, I guess the rule changes??? Seymour shoulda' kept his cool and got a clean shot later.
For the most part during a game, the Steelers and any other team have the calls go pretty straight up, BUT when the game is on the line or at a critical junction, my next paycheck is on a favorable call for the Steelers....ask any Dolphin or Seahawk fan!!!
