How Smartphone Users See Themselves and Each Other
The Hermeneutic of Continuity ^ | 11/18/10 | Fr. Tim Finnigan

Sometimes in the Parish Club there are arguments about the merits and demerits of various smartphones. The graphic above seems to be a fair distribution of insults. (I'm an Android user btw.)

Give it a year, see how things pan out.

Speculation on the matter by Blackberry, iPhone, and Android users will be more self-revelatory than anything else.

They are the ones who have borrowed my Android to call tech Microsoft or ATT tech support for their phone. ... that just locked up, again, and tells them to call their network administrator.

Ever since I got my Android, I’ve been spending way too much time on FR.

I have a Tracphone and use it only rarely. I still have a landline for primary use. I wonder how I'm looked at.

Personally, I think far too many people are far too attached to their phones. It seems there are some who can't keep their hands of their cell for more than 5 minutes at a time. I even see women talking on the cell in the ladies room. Good grief!

It's hard to graphically represent the catatonic drool they generate. ;)

I have a cellphone. Keep it in the car for emergencies. When I need to make a call, once or twice a month, I pull it out, and turn it on. When I finish the call, I turn it off.

Handy little device.

We're in the same club. Tracphone was the best thing I ever did. Way cheaper than the least-expensive monthly plan. Works just fine.

I'm thinking of killing the land line one of these days - it's rare that we get a call that we answer due to Caller ID and I'm tired of trying to track down DNC list offenders.

What's missing is how each of those groups are seen by non-smartphone users. For example...

True story. I’m in the ladies room, using the facility. Woman comes in, yakking away, takes the stall next to me. Continues yakking away. I’m just trying to not listen to her conversation, right up until she says (I kid you not)

“Hang on just a second, I need to switch hands, so I can wipe.”

.....wonder how I’m looked at.....

As a spendthrift, a cautious spendthrift.

Throw away the land line and have the number ported to an I phone or a Droid. I am a curnudgeonly geezer and the transition was great.

I have my e mail and phone when I travel with out doing anything special. Everyone knows my number and I don’t miss the phone attached to the wall at all.

Maybe at some point. Right now, I have such a great bundle, it would be more expensive to get rid of the landline and get a cell.
