I just noticed this.
Why is the Facebook "Like" icon now appearing on every page I go to? Is FR now connected in some way to Facebook?

Are you just pretending not to get it?
Its about the spreading of opinions and news.
Quality is determined by the perp.

Thank you for the info. I will certainly avoid “Liking” anything. I try to be extremely careful about that kind of thing. I have all of 6 “friends” on FB and don’t play their games etc.

I don’t use facebook but if I did, I would probably hide my IP and not post on FR. This is ridiculous!

There’s nothing hazardous about it. OK somethings if you like them it gives them access to all your FB data, but the way around that is to not have any (I don’t put anything on my FB account I wouldn’t put on a billboard). I’ve got lots of FB friends, and they’re all real world friends too. And I play the games. I hope Disney cross promotes Tron and they start calling it the game grid.

I have it. I love it. Google hates it. The feeling is mutual and one reason I use Bing.

I’ll pay 10 each month to get rid of it too. In addition to my other membership.

Even if you don’t allow javascript on FR or FB? I have both sites blocked from running javascript.

That sounds very interesting. Will the new networking site be self-supporting like Free Republic, or will there be paid ads?

“Javascript is loaded and executed when the page is loaded whether you click on it or not. “
Sam, you might want to talk to someone who knows about this stuff(like me). That code will not execute on page load. It’s a link. The js code does not execute until you click it. That link will not change unless someone at FR changes it.

Because cookies are handy. They let me click on FR over and over and I never have to remember my password.
