Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin Jokes Edited From PBS Broadcast; “Not A Political Decision”

Odds are the only thing you know about the ceremony for this year’s Mark Twain Award at the Kennedy Center is this: Tina Fey handed it to Sarah Palin. But don’t expect to see that on PBS Sunday when the network airs the awards ceremony. As David Edwards writes on The Raw Story, Fey’s razor sharp jabs at the one-time Alaska governor and media-hyped presidential candidate were cut–for time.

“Executive producer Peter Kaminsky denied the politics played a part in the editing. “It was not a political decision,” he told The Washington Post.

PBS claimed that 19 minutes had to be cut out to fit the show in the 90-minute timeslot. “We took a lot out,” Kaminski said. “We snipped from everyone.”

The Post noted that it’s not the first time PBS has clipped a recipient of the Twain award. “When George Carlin was posthumously awarded the prize in 2008, the show’s producers spared the ears of the Kennedy Center audience by bleeping out the naughty parts from a video of Carlin doing his famous ‘Seven Dirty Words’ routine,” Paul Farhi wrote.

If nothing else, PBS must now understand that the threat of them losing federal financing is becoming much more real, especially with what happened on election day.

Unfortunately for them, Fey has already done the damage. It's too late to close the barn door.

Like you said, it’s what about 40 years too late to start trying to be “in the middle” instead of radically leftist.

Fey and her one-note impression are so five minutes ago.

Why play it at all? I can't imagine that routine remaining funny at all with nothing but bleeps throughout...

No, I'd say it was all the unrebutted, uncorrected Bill Moyers, David Brancaccio, and P.O.V. hitpieces that have done the damage over the years.

Twenty years ago, Friday night was public-affairs night, and Bill Buckley and John McLaughlin provided balance for the liberal tripe dished out on Washington Week in Review, where all the panelists were, and are, Leftist griffins, and other shows that pitched the liberal line.

At some point that broke down and leftist CPB program directors and producers jerked the network to the left, unapologetically, just like Pacifica's did during the Vietnamese War at the direction of their KGB masters.

Now all we see are panegyrics to left-wing agitators and old-line Communists like Dalton Trumbo and Harry Hay.

IMO, the only reason Tina Fey got this award is because of her caricatures of Palin. She isn’t that funny.

Maybe it’s because the cracks that Fey made were wrong, like the phoney paying for rape kits crap. That would be a good reason to edit them out.

They took them out because her jokes about Sarah Palin fell flat-—nobody laughed.

About time they made a good decision. Tina Fey’s remarks were most likely inappropriate for an award ceremony besides being just plain stupid.

That would assume anyone knows who Moyers and Brancaccio are and watches them or pays attention.

I understand your point, but anyone who was seriously looking into the question, "why are we supporting CPB/NPR/PBS with public tax dollars?" would in fact be paying attention.

One hopes.

Maybe the audience heard a pair of high heels coming down the hall, lol.

PBS scum lying to me is nothing new. They lied like dawgs on a hot summer day when the "selling subscriber information" story broke.
