You did it right, Marmolade, except you forgot to put in the http://
at the beginning.
Might I suggest “Ranger Rick?” It is a magazine subscription I get my grandchildren every year. The twins are 6 yrs old now, and absolutely love the magazine. They eagerly anticipate it’s arrival every single month. Last year they took it to show and tell where it was a huge success among fellow classmates! $24 on Amazon!

Slot cars....
...a little off your base topic, but we’ve always gotten grandkids and nieces/nephews U.S. coin proof sets from birth year to age 18 — not too expensive, yet gives the kids a sense of value and “time”, let alone a nifty little collection.
For boys a Zebco fishing pole then take them fishing, could also be given to the girls unless they were (as one of my daughter in laws said) a girly girl...
Thats a good one and teaches how to think ahead...my father taught me to play chess at 7 years old....
It seems that there are not as many toy guns as there used to be when I was a kid. Back in the late sixties I witnessed an anti-toy gun protest outside of a department store in Boston. I guess the lefties wanted to shame anyone who sold a toy gun or allowed their kids to play with one. Can’t have any boys who actually act like boys can we.
i always get a few audiobooks for my boys as Christmas gifts... my favorite place is Naxos... here is a link to the Junior Classics section of their website... excellent pickings!

You know I am also thinking of buying silver coins for my grandkids and my daughters as well.
My son travels a lot with the 9 year old grandson. He’s an avid reader but enjoys books on tape. This year it’s Moby Dick, Tom Sawyer and Robin Hood. Also found an old game on-line not made since the mid-60’s by Parker Brothers which was his dad’s fav so bought it for both of them to play together.
The Happy Hollisters, for young readers...lots of positive, family oriented fun (No bratty, sniping sibling rivalry) and mystery. There’s around forty books, and they were written in the fifties, I think.
Big kids help little kids, bullies get ‘thrashed’, and boys do boy stuff. I really like the series.
Lego sets. Awesome toy. Less likely to get bored with it because you can build so many different things. You can learn how to build self supporting architectures and things that won’t collapse on themselves. Great for the mind and for creative play.

Thanks for the tip. I know I have cut and pasted info in before and it has shown as a live link, but not this time. Now I know why.
http://www.lamplighterpublishing.com/
From the website: “At Lamplighter, it is not only our conviction to live according to these core values, but to produce stories that will inspire our readers to do the same. It is our commitment that each Lamplighter book instills moral values through role models that either demonstrate exemplary behavior or suffer consequences of making wrong choices.”
We just purchased a few of their books for our church library.
A shovel, hoe, rake, axe, tool set.
Dictionary, thesaurus.
Books by James Michener. Texas, Alaska, Centennial, Chesapeake, The Covenant, Caravans, Poland, Hawaii, etc.
Chemistry set. Ah the fun of making things go "Boom!"
Models and other "make it yourself" kits.
A pocket knife.
"The Dangerous Book for Boys" or "The Daring Book for Girls"
Some packets of seeds, tools and books for a garden.
I loved “The Five Little Peppers”. Also the “Cherry Ames Nurse” series. “Nancy Drew” (the old ones). “Anne of Green Gables”. My all-time favorite is “Little Women”.
Something we listened to when we were little — and I know it’s dorky — were the Mitch Miller albums with the really old songs. We “kids” (retired now) still remember them.
You stole my answer! :)
My girls LOVE the dolls and my son LOVES their weapons. We all love their books. Free shipping on orders over $75 with code freeship75.
