Isn’t lying to the press considered a career ending offense for the military?

I am not sure about this, but do know that lying gets one booted out of the academies, but not sure about ROTC.

Obfuscation might be tolerated in the name of not frightening the sheep, however.

Really do not know if the officers are allowed to lie. Does anyone here know?

Not if you're ordered to. The story line is coming from the Pentagon not West Point cadets.

Stating that, “The operation is classified” is not a lie.

It doesn’t tip the hand of the government that this was or was not our missile either.

That the government didn’t have a scenario set up like this ahead of time, just in case, is unsettling.

To allow this situation to fester, is to allow our enemies to ponder if we are vulnerable. I don’t see much upside to that.
