A transsexual convicted killer suing the Department of Correction to have taxpayers pay for a new round of electrolysis and a sex-change operation doesn’t have any hair issues that couldn’t be resolved by more razor work and heavier makeup, the chairman of the prison system’s Gender Identity Disorder Treatment Committee claims in a newly filed court document.
“I believe that her opinion that if she didn’t shave for a week she’d have a full beard (like mine as she indicated) is a serious distortion. It is my opinion that a reasonable accommodation to address this inmate’s concern would be to allow the inmate to shave more frequently (twice daily) and to allow the use of cosmetics to further feminize her appearance,” Dr. Robert B. Diener wrote of Robert “Michelle” Kosilek in a report filed last week in U.S. District Court in Boston.
Chief Judge Mark L. Wolf has twice refused to order DOC to restart permanent hair-removal treatments for Kosilek, which DOC contends fell short of their desired effect in the past.
Kosilek, 61, formerly of Mansfield, was born male but is living and dressing as a woman while on hormones at the all-male MCI-Norfolk state prison, where he is serving life for the 1990 strangulation of his 36-year-old wife Cheryl Kosilek.
Diener, chief psychiatrist for DOC’s mental health service provider, “is not an independent expert,” Kosilek’s attorney, Frances Cohen, told the Herald yesterday. “He is a psychiatrist. He has no knowledge of electrolysis.”
Kosilek, who has been waiting 10 years for Wolf’s decision on his sex-change suit and who claims in court filings he has attempted both suicide and self-castration in his despair, “has informed the court that in her view the record is closed and she’s ready for a decision,” Cohen said.
DOC spokeswoman Diane Wiffin said the department does not comment on pending litigation.
My big question is why does the corrections department have a “Gender Identity Disorder Treatment Committee?” You have to be bullsh*tting me!! Is someone trying to get me to move overseas?!

Was there reasonable doubt? If not, drag “it” out to the curb and shoot it behind the ear. Leave “it” for the sanitation engineer to collect.
The reporter referred to it as a ‘he’ and the jailer/whatever called it a ‘her’.
Idiocy abounds.
He claimed that his wife poured hot tea on his genitals and hence her killing (he wrapped a wire around her throat) was ‘self defense’. The jury didn’t buy it.
“Michelle’s case is being watched by other transgender inmates. No other transgender has successfully sued their state to cover the cost of sex change surgery.”
Doubt there was ANY doubt. More about this “guy” (much like some cars, they want to do some work on the tranny...)

Inmate suicide raises concerns for Kosilek
Lawyers for a transgender killer from Mansfield say there are weaknesses in system that could result in another death
BOSTON - The apparent prison suicide of a cross-dressing dermatologist has exposed weaknesses in the state’s ability to prevent inmates from killing themselves, according to lawyers for a transgender convicted killer from Mansfield who has been waiting for years for a judge to rule on a request to have a sex-change operation.
Michelle Kosilek, who has said she feels distressed “every waking moment” as a woman trapped inside a man’s body, is housed in the same prison where Dr. Richard Sharpe was found hanging by a bed sheet from the top bunk last week.
Sharpe was serving a life sentence in the prison in Norfolk for killing his wife in 2000.
Kosilek, as Robert Kosilek, was convicted of murdering his wife in 1990 in their Mansfield condominium, then dumping her body at Emerald Square mall in North Attleboro. Kosilek, who was sentenced to life in prison, legally changed her name to Michelle in 1993, and has been living as a woman in the all-male lockup.
Frances Cohen, one of Kosilek’s lawyers, said Tuesday that she is concerned Sharpe found a way to commit suicide inside his cell. “The Department of Correction has consistently taken the position that they have in place adequate suicide prevention policies, and the Sharpe case shows that may not be the case,” Cohen said.
Kosilek is suing the DOC in federal court, seeking to force prison officials to arrange her sex-reassignment surgery. A trial began in May 2006, but Judge Mark Wolf has yet to issue his ruling.
Kosilek testified at the trial that she suffered from depression and had twice tried to commit suicide.
She also sent a handwritten letter to Wolf in October, saying, “no one but me truly knows the depth of my despair.”
“This pain is intimately destructive,” Kosilek wrote.
This may come as a shock to the men on this thread (brace yourselves) but women have...uh...hair on their legs too and they have to SHAVE...yes, SHAVE...to take it off. Forget everything you thought you knew about such things! Women SHAVE their legs! So why can’t this person who wants to be female join women in this task?

Don’t the libs believe everybody has a fundamental “right to die” at a time of their choosing? Especially if they are in severe pain?

That first article was wrong about the destination of the ‘hot tea’:

About two and one-half years later, in October of 1992, the defendant gave a series of recorded interviews to a television news reporter. An audiotape recording of one of the interview sessions was played for the jury. During the interview, the defendant stated that: on the day of the murder, he and the victim had been in an argument; the victim threw boiling tea into the defendant’s face; he then knocked the victim down; she grabbed a butcher knife and chased the defendant into another room, threatening to kill him; he picked up a piece of wire that had been on a table; and this was all he was able to recall until he woke up days later in the hospital. The defendant stated in the interview that he “probably, because of the trauma of it . . . went into a black out at that moment.” He also said, “Apparently, I did take her life. It was probably in self-defense.”
