In his memoir, George W. Bush praises President Barack Obamas decision to escalate the war in Afghanistan.
I strongly believe the mission is worth the cost, Bush wrote in Decision Points, which comes out Tuesday. Fortunately, I am not the only one.
He expresses gratitude that Obama stood up to critics by deploying more troops, announcing a new commitment to counterinsurgency in Afghanistan, and increasing the pressure on Pakistan to fight the extremists in the tribal areas.
In the 497-page autobiography, Obama comes up in 10 places. Each is either a favorable, sympathetic or tangential reference. There is not a single unkind word about Obama in the book.
Bushs post-presidential, statesman-like desire to stay above the fraydemonstrated over the last two years and seen again in the bookreflects an apparently genuine desire for the Democratic president to succeed.
He marvels at Obamas tremendous appeal to voters under fifty and admires a smart, disciplined, high-tech campaign to get his young supporters to the polls.

He never says anything bad about Obama.....but you can read between the lines. It's there.
Momma taught George: If you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all.
Sure do miss him and will use up my gift card.
Except Bush’s surge was accompanied by no announcement of a firm withdrawal timetable. In fact that was the major point of contention from critics. Obama on the other hand has done a surge but at the same time told the Taliban to just hold on for 24 months and it will all be theirs.
...unlike his still-living democrat predecessors, who inserted themselves continuously in President Bush's business. Actually, I don't believe it "reflects a genuine desire for Obama to succeed" at all. (I refuse to call him "democratic".) It just says Bush knows he's done with Washington.
LOL. Bush praising the Afghan surge is like nails on a blackboard for eternity to the left.
Clearly this was written before the new rules of engagement which included not calling in fire power to protect any possible collateral damage.
Kind of like Mama Bush wearing that blue dress with the white polka dots at the Republican convention for 2000.
