Roy is da man! I love listening to him sing. Musicians would clamber to play and sing with him.

There are a lot of singers here who ‘bat for the other team’. Freddie Mercury, Barry Lamalow, half the country singers listed...

“The claim is that Jay Black was in command of the most octaves of any male singer.

Just go and listen to Cara Mia sometime

The crazy thing is is that he did that song without resorting to falsetto.”

Jay has to use falsetto to hit the high notes, but Gene Pitney does it in full voice:

How could I forget Nat.

First, listen to Nat, then listen to Luther. It becomes VERY obvious that Luther stylized himself after Nat.

At first blush, I didn’t consider Van Morrison’s voice among the greats. But over time, I came to appreciate his phrasing and inflection in the context of the song as a musical instrument, which it is.

Setting aside his gifts as a lyricist, not to mention his massive longevity, his tone and pitch are masterful. Check his performance on 2005’s “Stranded”. Superb.

I don’t know. That sounds like falsetto to me.

There's no doubt he can't be imitated.

Don't care much for the Bon Scott years. I wore out Back In Black and Hells Bells

After I went to bed, I realized I should have added Chuck Berry.

I listened to a lot of radio and records in the 60s obviously...

I practically went into mourning when Otis Redding died.

Better than the original.

That honkey has got the SOUL of a sista'.

She has got a clarity of voice and MOST DEFINETLY a delivery of the song. She's not just singing. She's SINGING.

I should have added Chuck Berry

There's no way I could create a list of top male vocalists that contained ONLY 10. :)

There are still many, many more that haven't been mentioned.

You have to be pretty much off your rocker to think Daltry has talent of any sort; unless the ability to stand around swinging a mic by its cord, and not much else, in the middle of another crappy concert is considered talent

I respectfully disagree. I don’t know how he is live, but in the studio he has few peers. For instance, Daltrey’s vocals on the Who’s Quadrophenia album were superb. This was before the days of Autotune.

While I’m at it, if being a top male vocalist means talent, then Jim Morrison (Doors) is somewhere near, if not at, the top of the list.
