Brian Johnson...From AC/DC? Vocal "talent?"

He would even admit that he's no Bon Scott. Now that guy had vocal talent-his range was actually much greater than what he did with AC/DC, if you listen to some of his pre AC/DC stuff. It didn't sound at all like them at all. He's one of the few Rock and Roll singers that could never be imitated.

ANYONE, whether they have lost a parent or not, listens to Dance With My Father and I don't know how a tear can't come to their eye.

Don't play it near me unless you want me sobbing.

Heard him do that song a few years ago in Virginia Beach.

Sounded better than when he was just a youngin! 8)

"Freddie Mercury. Great vocalist.:

Beat me to it. Whatever else the guy was, he had an excellent vocal range.

Funny, I don’t see William Hung in that list.

Where’s Ronnie James Dio?

Good question! He's not even the last in line!

(Ronnie James Dio monument in Bulgaria. No, I'm not kidding).

Van Morrison.

In my top ten list also. Not a great voice, if you consider that alone. But I find that I always enjoy listening to the great singer-song writers -- Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, etc -- more than dedicated singers. The latter sing because they can sing, the former sing because they must sing in order to tell the stories they've written. All these men have vocal limitations compared to the best professional singers, but somehow they sound "better" to me for some difficult to define reasons. Passion? Earnestness? I don't know exactly.

I would drop McCartney and Diamond from that list and add Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli.

What you said. Freddie Mercury’s voice was beautiful, AND it was powerful enough to belt out rock songs.
