Assuming you mean Sculley, no. This was in 2009. We had the original xServe and wanted to add capacity (all PATA). The caddies cost $300 each to fill out the case or to have easy to use spares.

I was referring to the Apple Workgroup Server days... not the caddy system... sorry...

Oh, of course! I think we had an 8150 which was a PowerPC 8100 with a different network adapter and graphics and the old System Server.

Going back a bit farther, the SE/30 made a reasonable server, when outfitted with a direct bus card. (Those were the days also when every Mac had its own kind of card [SE/Nubus/IIsi])
