Yeah, but they will eat small animals. I know they will eat baby birds out of nest boxes.

Racoons and Opossums will eat anything.

We had one come in the house a couple of weeks ago, our little doggie jumped out of our bed and was hell bent on the attack. The raccoon was twice the size but skedaddled pretty quick. The kids and whole family was wide awake at 3am. The puppy had blood on his mouth, we cleaned it up, it was the racoon's not his. My little girl thinks he is a real hero. I lock the back door now.

they will also eat chickens when they are roosting and baby turkeys that are with their mothers. also had them decapitate a rabbit. I hate coons....one killed 1/2 of my chicken coop one night just for the pleasure of killing them, only ate one....they are smart enough to go through a doggie dog if you have one...also ate through the roof of one of our small buildings that I had a mother turkey with babys in it with a closed door..just like the chicken coop, the doors were all closed in the evening after they went in to rooste....chewed up a guinea's leg, but I was able to save the leg...had to kill several chewed up but alive chickens....hateful predators and quite efficient...
