If You Had to Choose: Huckabee vs. Romney?
me | 11/5/10 | Ocarterma

Let preface this unofficial poll by saying that I am a Sarah Palin supporter through and through and will go to the mat for her if she runs in 2012. But supposing the new CNN poll showing either Huckabee or Romney would beat Obama in '12 is not a faux poll and pretending these two where the last two standing in the GOP primary in two years I'm curious as to which of the two Freepers see as the lesser of two........

I’d choose a third party... and obama would win in a Reagan landslide.

Running total so far:

Romney: 16

Huckabee: 4

I’d slit my wrist/leave the country: +60

I agree with your assessment. Two socialist parties, one secularist and the other some quasi-Christian civil religion, is NOT a viable two party system.

Romney and Huckabee are both unacceptable choices. I would refuse to vote for the Presidency, I would NOT in ANY CIRCUMSTANCES “stay home” and shame on any who suggest it. But I would leave my ballot blank on the question of who should be President.

‘I really don’t think Romney can overcome the sacred underwear factor.’

Is that similar to a string of beads or a cross on a chain? What does the underwear signify? Symbiology?

Your plan for Baker FAILED.
You and that Romney-Obama fan Howie Carr, ally of DNC's A.G. Reilly,
supported Romney clone BAKER ... and Deval Patrick
got re-elected. Thanks for NOTHING. Romney brings PROVEN loss.

And. .... RomneyCARE failed in both coasts.
Everyone associated with Romney FAILED.

You sound like a Concern Troll

You haven’t given me a choice.

All you’ve done is given me a reason to sit out the election or select the American Independent party candidate.

If the media attempts to select our candidate in 2012, like they did in 2008, there WILL be a strong third party challenge. Guaranteed. True conservatives are done holding their noses and voting for RINOs just because the media picked them for us. The more the Republican Party embraces the RINOs as leadership candidates, the more irrelevant they make themselves. Anyone remember the Whigs?

My initial instinct is to stay home, but I know that I can’t help the country fall to the dems again, so.... I’d have to say Romney, as badly as it pains me. Let’s pray we don’t have to vote for any retreads in ‘12.

I like Huck and would vote for him, however I want electability. Kennedy and Scalia and Ruth Buzzy are old. We can't afford another 4 years of Osama , because the rep candidate is too RINOish. I am crazy about palin ( if I had a magic wand I'd make her empress), but the media will destroy her again - worse than they did to COD. My advice to her is run against Begich and build a resume that the MSM can't mock, and continue her role as kingmaker (and endorse only candidates who can win)
Barbour is great, but he is central casting for the negative stereotype of REPS- as portrayed by the MSM. Christie is my gov and is a superstar, but only 2 years in, and many freepers will call him a RINO ( forgetting the original intent of federalism- let the social issues be decided state by state). Demint is another great one, but a son of the Confederacy from South Carolina will be fodder for the MSM. Jindal is a star who defies the MSM stereotype of reps being angry white xtian males ( OK I know that Indians are aryans of varying shades of white to brown) but the MSM would have a hard time trashing him or calling him a racist. He is anaccomplished doer, and is extremely articulate on his feet sans teleprompter(ala Christie). -in fact he is better w/ithout a teleprompter( remember his response to the first Osama SOTU I'd love Allen West, but too soon. Pawlenty was a great gov of a blue state who'd make a great pres, but so far he doesn't impress me in the charisma dept. Kasich would be a phenomenal pres- goes against stereotype as he has blue collar background, but will have his hands full in Ohio. Romney has crossover appeal , but he has to define himself and figure out how to spin Romneycare-if its possible.

“Demint is another great one, but a son of the Confederacy from South Carolina will be fodder for the MSM.”

Never knew your man Huckabee was a Yankee .... are you confusing him with Bush?

What is it you like about Huck? His free spending ways? His pardon everyone criminal justice policies? His soft on amnesty immigration views? I’d have a very hard time voting for Huckabee. Yes, he’s a folksy Christian, but he was a terrible governor, and he’d make an even worse President. Of course worse than Barry Obama is a metaphysical impossibility.

South Carolina was the heart and soul of the Confederacy, while Arkansas elected Clinton.

"What is it you like about Huck? His free spending ways? His pardon everyone criminal justice policies? His soft on amnesty immigration views?"

If you had read my prior post, Huck is too churchy to win.

Personally, I’d vote for Huckabee; on the other hand, I’d vote for Alfred E. Neuman (What me worry?) if it meant defeating Obama.
