UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE WEEKLY CLAIMS REPORT

SEASONALLY ADJUSTED DATA

In the week ending Oct. 30, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 457,000, an increase of 20,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 437,000. The 4-week moving average was 456,000, an increase of 2,000 from the previous week's revised average of 454,000.

Forgive me if this is a duplicate post ... I did not find it in a search.

So, on 10/28, 434,000 new jobless claims represented a 21,000 drop. Today, 457,000 new jobless claims, up 20,000 from last week's revised number which was up 3,000 from the original report. I make that up 23,000?

I can only assume this was unexpected.
